    The role

    Our Science team is focused on delivering holistic solutions from data input through to detailed analysis, and this requires our members to be scientists who have lived the day-to-day of lab-based work or the direct support thereof. We are looking for an associate scientist to help assist customers in developing solutions to their needs from pre-sale (e.g., demos, Q+A, etc.) through to pilot/implementation projects.

    You are a scientist with experience and/or familiarity in biotech, pharma, materials, chemistry, or a related discipline who is passionate about using data to make decisions. You are an excellent communicator and love helping people design and deploy solutions. Success as an associate scientist at Riffyn is typified by these attributes:

    • Ideally, you have experience with coding - emphasis is placed on experience in Python, R, JMP scripting language, though we will entertain candidates with familiarity and a passion to learn. You do not need to be an expert or even advanced - just be willing to learn on the job

    The experience

    As an associate scientist – sales and solutions, you will serve a dual role, supporting both the Sales process, as well as Scientific Solutions consulting activities. You will help potential customers understand how Riffyn Nexus can solve their data and process management problems, as well as working with existing customers to deploy Nexus during pilot and implementation projects. This includes helping potential and existing customers.

    1. Learn about Riffyn Nexus via clear, concise demonstrations that are relevant to their functional areas and problem statements;
    2. Develop new demo materials and associated scripts;
    3. Develop scopes for pilot and implementation projects;
    4. Work with a Riffyn scientist/senior scientist to support customer projects by delivering Nexus-based solutions and associated data analysis tools;
    5. Provide instructor-led training sessions to customers.

    In this role, you will tap your skills and experiences in industrial science, storytelling, solutions generation, and problem-solving to help our potential and existing customers realize the greatest value possible from a Riffyn Nexus-based solution.

    Responsibilities

    • Provide demonstrations and pre-sales support to potential customers during the sales process
    • Develop and deploy demonstration processes, experiments, and scripts (to be shared with the entire team)
    • Work with customers to translate scientific workflows into Riffyn process designs
    • Help customers design experiments to address their R&D questions
    • Help customers pipe their data from various sources into Riffyn experiments
    • Develop analytical applications, visualizations, and/or scripts using coding languages or software such as Python, R, JMP, Spotfire, Tableau
    • Train customers on the Riffyn application and enhanced scientific discovery methodologies
    • Channel your professional experience and customer feedback into feature requests for product development
    • Generate and maintain help documentation and videos, and write blog articles and journal publications

    Requirements

    • 1-3 years’ industrial experience with a degree in chemical engineering, microbial biology, chemistry, materials science, fermentation, analytical chemistry, or related field
    • Proficiency/familiarity with using Excel, Python, or other scripting languages for data capture, analysis, and reporting
    • Experienced using JMP, R, Spotfire, Tableau, or other software for multivariate data exploration or analysis
    • Experience with at least one of the following is highly valuable: electronic lab notebooks (ELN), laboratory information management systems (LIMS), chromatography data systems, historians, or other assay data capture, process design, scientific workflow management platforms
    • Demonstrated capability to identify and solve scientific problems using a statistically driven, data-first approach
    • Experience in Design of Experiments (DoE), Partition of Variance, and other statistical methodologies highly sought
    • Outstanding & proactive oral and written communication skills
    • Problem-solving/analytical mindset
    • Willing to travel up to 30%
