    POSITION OVERVIEW

    Working in a collaborative, creative and fast pace environment, the successful candidate will assist the Merchandising team in coordinating product solicitations, managing and creating purchase orders and researching marketing strategies. The role of this individual will be to support the Merchandising team in all aspects of product procurement. This includes setting prices, analysing buying patterns, contacting industry representatives, and adding products to the site. The ideal candidate will have strong written and oral communication skills, is detail oriented and is familiar with the products we sell.

     

     

    ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Coordinate, organize, prioritize and complete merchandising tasks
    • Become familiar with vendors and publishers, as well as the items they sell
    • Research, review, acquire, and update information on new products
    • Understand the importance of confidentiality regarding announcements and solicits
    • Handle multiple priorities, duties and responsibilities
    • Utilize web classes offered for video, books, music, figures, etc.
    • Manage the loading of images, descriptions, keywords, and SEO for products
    • Communicate delays, backorders and canceled orders to internal departments.
    • Maintain accurate logging into time and material tracking system
    • Build sales, create the planogram, create the import and run sale in sandbox/production
    • Work cases as assigned
    • Use formulas, filters and sorting in Excel
    • Interact with vendors & publishers on a daily basis
    • Routinely reach out to vendors for discontinued items
    • Stay up-to-date with weekly, weekend, one-day and special sales; understand the difference and how they affect one another
    • Coordinate sales and present presentations for Birthday and Holiday.
    • Prepare purchase orders based on optimum order quantities and cost
    • Produce project based progress reports and bring unique ideas to weekly meetings
    • Navigate NetSuite as needed for saved searches and use to create or edit a search
    • Write, proofread, and/or edit various product copy from vendors
    • Coordinate resolutions for defective product issues
    • Pick and order GE items/Abysee
    • Forecast and create purchase orders to vendor
    • Follow up on purchase orders & monitor product delivery
    • Stay up-to-date regarding industry trends to ensure merchandise is in demand
    • Work with analytics to measure effective buying strategies
    • Set “Out of Stock”, “Not Available for Reorder” and “Publisher Backorder” as needed
    • Other duties as assigned

    QUALIFIED CANDIDATES WILL HAVE:

    • HS diploma or Equivalent
    • Knowledge of trends in popular culture
    • Excellent writing and proofreading abilities
    • Math skills sufficient to calculate pricing and profit margins
    • Strong attention to detail
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
    • Familiar with Microsoft Office
    • Excellent analytical skills
    • Familiar with social media platforms
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills
    • Ability to prioritize work and work accurately under pressure of deadlines
