Let’s say you are a Veteran coming in for a procedure that will require anesthesia and someone to observe you for the rest of the day at home? Without transportation from a family member or friend, our agency assists the New Orleans VA with their unique program to help Veterans who fit these criteria.

The Veteran Medical Companion is responsible for driving to Veteran’s location or home (New Orleans Metro area) at a designated time, to accompany the Veteran on the bus/van, provided by the VA, to his/her outpatient procedure at the New Orleans VA. Post-procedure, the Veteran Medical Companion will call for pre-arranged transportation and travel back to the Veteran’s home. Once at the Veteran’s home, the Companion will meal prep, if needed, and ensure the comfort of the Veteran.

Requirements for Companion:

· Valid Driver’s License

· Car Insurance

· Personally, owned vehicle

· TB Skin Test

· Cell Phone
