    Job Description

    Rincon Consultants, Inc. is seeking an ASSOCIATE BIOLOGIST ASSISTANT PROJECT MANAGER who will have direct responsibility to perform environmental compliance monitoring of large and small  projects, including; planning, implementation and monitoring for habitat restoration and species capture and relocation.

     

    We are looking to hire a total of six (6) people throughout any of our offices in California. 

     

    WHAT DO YOU GET TO DO IN THIS POSITION?

     

    • Conduct filed surveys and prepare technical reports necessary to complete biological documentation for specific projects
    • Perform general biological resources and habitat suitability assessments, vegetation communities and habitat types classification and mapping, plant and animal species inventories, special status plant and animal species surveys, jurisdictional delineations, resource constraints analyses, and tree surveys 
    • Be responsible for organizing, executing and coordinating overall project management 
    • Coordinate and consult with federal, state and local regulatory agencies on scope, impact and regulatory requirements of projects
    • Work with biology managers to obtain, summarize and analyze biological data for inclusion in biology documents such as biological evaluations, biological assessments, and natural environment studies
    • Work with planning managers to obtain, summarize and analyze biological data for inclusion in planning documents such as environmental impact reports, initial studies, mitigated negative declarations, environmental impact statements, and environmental assessments
    • Conduct management and preparation of environmental documents and studies in support of regulations required under CEQA and NEPA
    • Travel to distant areas, including overnight stays
    • Perform all other duties as requested by supervisor(s)

     

    THIS JOB MIGHT BE FOR YOU IF YOU HAVE THE FOLLOWING: 

     

    • B.S. degree in Biology or other directly related discipline
    • 3-5 years (full-time equivalent) of directly related professional experience (as noted in above two previous bullet points) in California’s Central Valley and with Central Valley special status species including but not limited to San Joaquin kit fox, California tiger salamander, blunt-nosed leopard lizard, tri-colored blackbird, Swainson’s hawk, and burrowing owl
    • Demonstrated experience with organizing, executing and coordinating overall project assignments
    • Demonstrated experience with conducting general field biology assessments (often in adverse weather / terrain conditions) including, but not limited to, endangered species / habitat assessments, resource constraints analyses, sensitive species protocol surveys, wildlife identification, botanical identification and inventories, focused rare plant surveys, vegetation mapping, tree surveys (certified arborist a plus), jurisdictional delineations, including permitting per USACE, RWQCB and CDFW requirements, wetland mitigation and monitoring plans, open space management plans and other natural resources management plans, GPS & GIS mapping, monitoring for the environmental compliance of large and small projects, including planning, implementation, and monitoring for habitat restoration
    • Demonstrated experience with technical writing (BRAs, BAs, NESs, bio sections of CEQA/NEPA docs or similar technical reports)
    • Ability to work with planning managers to gather and prepare material and data for planning documents such as environmental impact reports, initial studies, and mitigated negative declarations
    • Ability to travel 50% to 100% (with overnight stays) during peak periods
    • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds
    • Ability to walk on uneven terrain for extended periods of time
    • A clean driving record
