The Risk Coordinator will support the construction company's risk management and loss prevention programs by partnering with field operations, safety teams, insurers, and internal stakeholders. You will be responsible for coordinating insurance requirements, tracking incidents and claims, managing certificates of insurance, and assisting with compliance efforts to reduce risk exposure across projects.
Key job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Risk Management:
- Assist with organization-wide risk management policies and procedures and make recommendations to General Counsel and implement modifications as needed.
- Assist with internal risk insurance training as needed.
- Ensure consistent adherence to company risk management policies, procedures, and controls across all projects and teams.
- Ensure timely escalation of legal and risk‑related issues to the General Counsel when warranted.
Risk Management & Insurance:
- Coordinate the setup, tracking, and ongoing management of the Subcontractor Default Insurance (SDI) program, ensuring subcontractor compliance, accurate reporting, and alignment with contractual and risk mitigation requirements.
- Coordinate the setup, tracking, and ongoing management of Builders Risk Insurance programs, ensuring appropriate coverage, compliance with contractual requirements, and alignment with project risk profiles.
- Coordinate the collection, review, and tracking of Certificates of Insurance (COIs) from subcontractors and vendors. Verify subcontractor compliance with contractual insurance requirements
- Assist in maintaining insurance policies, endorsements, renewals, and coverage documentation.
- Support audits related to insurance, OSHA, workers' compensation, and general liability
Claims Coordination:
- Timely submission and coordination of incident reports with appropriate insurance carriers. ****
- Serve as a liaison between field teams, insurance carriers, brokers, adjusters, and third-party administrators
- Track open claims for all insurance policies and maintain updated records
- Assist with claim investigations and provide documentation as needed
- Assist General Counsel with claims as needed
Data, Reporting, & Documentation:
- Ensure the accuracy and ongoing management of risk and claims data, including databases, spreadsheets, and supporting files. ****
- Prepare reports on incidents, claim costs, insurance compliance, and loss trends.
- Support leadership with data for insurance renewals and risk review meetings.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Work closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, HR, Accounting, and Legal teams.
- Provide guidance to internal teams on insurance and risk-related processes.
Additional Responsibilities:

Participation and completion in scheduled and applicable safety training, as determined by the company.
Minimum Education and/or Experience Requirements:
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Risk Management, Safety, Construction Management, Business, or a related field (preferred)
- 2–5 years of experience in risk management, insurance coordination, construction operations, or safety support
- Experience in a construction, industrial, or heavy civil environment strongly preferred
- Familiarity with workers' compensation, general liability, auto, and umbrella insurance programs

- Thorough understanding of policies and best practices of risk management
- Computer proficiency required including a strong working knowledge of Excel, Word, and Outlook

- Highly organized and able to effectively multitask, juggle competing priorities, and meet deadlines
