    Position Summary

    The Risk Management Officer is responsible for leading the Bank’s Regulatory Compliance, Bank Secrecy Act/Anti-Money Laundering (BSA/AML), Community Reinvestment Act (CRA), Audit and Vendor Management programs. This position ensures the Bank operates in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies by identifying, assessing, monitoring, and reporting regulatory risks. The role requires strong leadership, regulatory expertise, and the ability to work collaboratively across departments and with senior management. This role requires both subject matter expertise and the flexibility to operate at both a tactical and strategic level.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    • Conduct annual risk assessments for Internal Audit, Compliance, and BSA.
    • Coordinate regulatory exams and external audits, and present findings to Executive Management and the Audit Committee.
    • Oversee the bank’s monitoring, internal control reviews, and audit follow-up processes.
    • Provide leadership and strategic direction for vendor management, ensuring compliance throughout the vendor lifecycle.
    • Ensure timely and effective resolution of audit and exam findings.
    • Lead the Compliance team in maintaining adherence to federal and state regulations.
    • Provide oversight of compliance monitoring, policy review, training, and complaint management.
    • Review and approve marketing materials and handle incident response management.
    • Serve as a subject matter expert on consumer and commercial deposit and lending regulations.
    • Provide oversight of BSA/AML monitoring, investigations, and regulatory reporting.
    • Supervise the preparation and filing of SARs and CTRs.
    • Ensure compliance with OFAC, 314(a), high-risk account reviews, and daily fraud alerts.
    • Support team members and frontline staff with BSA-related questions and escalations.
    • Manage the CRA Public File, CRA data integrity, and reporting processes.
    • Analyze and qualify Community Development activities.
    • Prepare for CRA exams, audits, and ongoing performance evaluations.
    • Collaborate on community involvement initiatives and ensure regulatory documentation is maintained.

    Required Knowledge and Expertise

    • Minimum of 10 years of banking experience with increasing responsibility in compliance, audit, and/or risk management.
    • Professional certification required: CRCM, CCBCO, CAMS, CBAP, or CCBSO.
    • Strong knowledge of federal and Colorado state banking laws and regulations.
    • Exceptional communication, critical thinking, and organizational skills.
    • Ability to manage multiple projects, lead teams, and work independently.
    • Occasional travel to branch locations required.

    **Pursuant to the Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act and Equal Pay Transparency Rules, the salary range above represents the low and high end of the salary range for this position. Actual salaries will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range listed is just one component of the total compensation package for employees. Incentives based on Timberline Team goals may also be offered.
