Wanted: Gardening Helper, Lover of the Natural World, Beauty Appreciator. Great working environment.perched on the Scenic St. Croix River with 2 acres developed over 25 years and cared for primarily with organic methods. Home owner and designer a former UMN Master Gardener. The 2 acres has areas of planted prairie; 15 fruit trees, plums, apricots, pears, apples; beds of summer and fall raspberries, strawberries, blueberries, bush cherries, elderberries, currants, and more; 2000 sq. ft. of raised beds for seasonal vegies and herbs; a woodland area with pines, maturing sugar maple, black cherries, and under plantings of shrubs, flowers, vines; a river bank planted with native shrubs and flowers; a pond full of tadpoles and water plants; and a complement of cottage gardens and lawn around the house. The primary design concepts were to include food and a safe haven for birds, bugs, hopping or slithering critters and humans. The yard is always a flit with birds, bats, bees and butterflies, as well as a constant bloom and fragrance of flowers, shrubs, trees to provide nectar and insects for all manner of critters. All of this takes work! We are looking for someone who appreciates the joys of working in the natural world, knows or is willing to learn the difference between desirable and undesirable plants, and doesn't mind getting their hands in the soil and able to converse with the earth worms. The work is seasonal, dividing and transplanting overgrown clumps in the cottage gardens, weeding, mulching, deadheading, pruning, pulling the unending seedlings of buckthorn and amur maple from the woodlands, hauling woodchips to the paths throughout the property. We would like someone willing to work 4 to 5 hours in the mornings, 2 or 3 days a week with a salary depending on experience of $15 to $20 an hour. Most mornings we will work with you. For the summer, this would be weekday mornings, in the fall, we could switch to weekends or afternoons. Here's the rub: we live on the St. Croix River 8 miles north of Stillwater MN, 2 miles south of Marine on St. Croix. If you are in our area and looking for reliable work from now through Oct. or Nov. give us a call, text or e-mail: Call John or Nancy 651-433-3349 or text: 612-723-7368
