  • Responsibilities

    As a Hydrologic SME III , you will conduct quality assurance/quality control evaluations of USGS complex heat and water transport computer simulations on the Trout Lake USGS research site.

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

    • Write utility software to translate simulation output to USGS-specified metrics.

    Apply expert judgment to review text, tables and figures documenting USGS simulations.

    • Assist the UMid Groundwater and Watershed Modeling Team by reviewing conceptual models and technical writing and documentation.

    • Provide expert-level guidance for responding to review comments.

    • Maintains and demonstrates expert-level technical competence and/or expertise in areas of assigned responsibility.

    • Plans, organizes, and executes work logically and anticipates and analyzes problems clearly and determines appropriate solutions.

    • Completes work in accordance with established deadlines.

    • Delivers expert level high-quality products and service to both external and internal customers and initiates and responds to suggestions for improving service.

    **EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: **

    • Master’s degree in Hydrogeology or similar

    • 25 years of experience performing hydrologic flow and transport modeling

    **KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS: **

    • The SME III Shall be proficient in the techniques currently used by the profession to construct, analyze, and document numerical models.

    • The SME III Shall be proficient at writing technical analyses and scientific manuscripts.

    • The SME III shall be knowledgeable of the humid-temperate hydrologic setting of the Upper Midwest Water Science Center.

    • Computer/Software Required Skills: As necessary, SME III shall be proficient in use of analytical and hydrological simulation programs.

    Security Background Investigation: Candidate may be required to complete a federal background investigation.
