    The Role:
    Plans, directs, and coordinates, through staff of skilled, semiskilled, and unskilled trade personnel, activities concerned with the operation, repair, maintenance, and construction of facilities, equipment, buildings, and grounds to minimize interruption, improve efficiency, and enhance safety. Provides leadership in Maintenance programs with strategic guidance from the Plant Manager.

    Essential Functions:

    • Hires and supervises Maintenance team.
    • Assigns workers to duties such as maintenance, repair, or renovation and may obtain bids for additional work from outside contractors.
    • Works with Engineering, Maintenance and Production Departments to ensure safe equipment operation.
    • Formulates procedures for use in event of accidents, fires, spills or other emergencies.
    • Inspects buildings, grounds, equipment, fire and electrical systems or reviews inspection reports to determine repairs, replacement, or improvements required.
    • Inspects facilities to determine existing or potential hazards and determine corrective or preventative measures where applicable and follow-up to ensure measures have been implemented.
    • Oversees capital projects including vendor selection and quotes, engineering analysis and project justification, plans and coordinates internal and external project resources, and facilitates safe implementation into the plant or production environment.
    • Ensures Clean Air/Clean Water act compliance & maintains associated records/permits.
    • Manages hazardous waste and ensures EPA compliance.
    • Maintains the facility MSDS database.
    • Reviews all safety related incidents and associated corrective actions.
    • Reviews reports of expenditures for previous fiscal year and proposes safety/facility improvements in order to prepare budget estimates for upcoming fiscal year.
    • Purchases building and maintenance safety supplies, machinery, equipment, and furniture.
    • Supports corporate and departmental sustainability programs and activities, including waste management, waste reduction, recycling initiatives.
    • May direct contracted projects to ensure adherence to specifications.
    • Assumes additional related responsibilities as required.

    Required Skills

    Required Experience

    • Bachelor's degree from four-year College or University with three to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Must have knowledge of a variety of computer software applications in word processing, spreadsheets and database software. PC and word processor skills including but not limited to Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
    • Must have knowledge of manufacturing processes and equipment with the ability to assess hazards and implement safety controls as needed.
    • Ability to read and interpret documents such as blueprints, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and policy procedure manuals. Good verbal and written communication skills are necessary.
