Located in Mahwah, New Jersey and serving the New York City, Tri-State area, Robert J. Trobe, Corp. is a Competitive Private Investigation firm serving the Insurance industry and Insurance Defense Bar. We are seeking an Insurance Investigator to assist in handling a wide variety of claims including, but not limited to Commercial and General Liability, Construction, Labor Law 240, etc. Candidate will be responsible for handling investigations from our Mahwah, New Jersey office, and as necessary must also be able to conduct investigations in the field.   

This position requires a flexible schedule to adapt to the unique needs of each individual investigation. You must have strong verbal and written communication skills and a proficient knowledge of computers. Candidates must be able to think outside the box and leave no stone unturned. The right person should be able to perform in a professional business environment and have the ability to work closely within a team; and be able to work independently.

Primary Job Duties & Responsibilities will vary depending on the type of claim assigned; including but not limited to:

• Manage challenging case load
• Review of files including all materials provided by the client and/or insured, as well as other available resources, to ensure a commanding knowledge of the task at hand
• Conduct searches through various databases proprietary, public and restricted databases to locate a desired target or perform background on a subject
• Be able to professionally contact various parties including Adjusters, Attorneys, Insureds, Independent Witnesses, etc.
• Manage and effectively communicate with other Field Investigators regarding assignments; including immediate support for Investigators in need of information from the office.
• Conduct exploratory and/or recorded statements with Fact Witnesses, either by telephone, in-person or ZOOM.
• Draft Contact Letters to Witnesses, Insureds, etc.
• Create a diary system to monitor case load and ensure follow-ups are conducted in a timely manner
• Daily and/or Weekly communications to client concerning status of investigations
• Trial Support including arranging for witness and expert testimony
• Request and Collect records from Various Agencies as needed to assist your investigation
• Must be able to qualify for NYS and New Jersey Notary Commissions  and NYC Department of Consumer Affairs Process Servers License.
