    Job Description

    ABOUT STEVENSON The Robert Louis Stevenson School’s mission is to promote the emotional mastery needed for learning and living, bringing students into a strong academic and therapeutic environment and propelling them towards postsecondary independence and success.  The program provides every student individually formulated support in a structured and respectful environment. Stevenson teaches students how to succeed and prepares them to meet the challenges of post-secondary education and everyday life.

    POSITION SUMMARY The School Psychologist is an overtime exempt full-time position. As part of the School's clinical team, the School Psychologist provides direct support and interventions to students. The School Psychologist applies expertise in mental health, learning, and behavior to help students succeed academically, socially, and emotionally. The School Psychologist reports to the Clinical Director. 

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

    • Direct intervention and counseling to students on demand and in crisis situations. Empathically listen to student concerns, assess problems, and plan goals and actions. 
    • Meet and facilitate conversations with parents and teachers to discuss learning, behavioral, familial, and social problems.
    • Monitor student progress and maintain appropriate and accurate records on students who use clinical services. 
    • Work in collaboration with faculty, families, and outpatient facilities in the treatment of students.
    • Participate in admissions decisions, help review applications for enrollment, and interview students and parents. 
    • Develop, present, and implement prevention, intervention, and psycho-educational programs and workshops for Stevenson staff.
    • Coordinate the implementation of therapy programs with external consultants. 
    • Facilitate weekly therapeutic student groups.
    • Supervise and provide constant feedback to Psychology interns. 
    • Other ad hoc duties and responsibilities as needed.

    ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

    • Commitment to School’s mission.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 
    • Outstanding clinical intervention, consultation, and assessment skills. 
    • Doctoral degree in School Psychology, Counseling Psychology, or Clinical Psychology required. 
    • Must have a New York License or be working toward New York Licensure.
    • Clinical experience with kids and adolescents required, including use of evidence-based interventions.
    • Experience collaborating with schools required. 
    • Ability to work with confidential and sensitive information and records.
    • Humor, patience, poise, and an ability to purposefully balance structure and flexibility.

    Based on qualifications and experience, anticipated salary range is $75,000-100,000.
