The Finish Motor Grader Operator is a specialized skilled position, experienced only need apply; travel required. This position is responsible for all rough and finish grading and assists with all aspects of the grading operation. Must be able to fine grade, to precise specifications with a high degree of accuracy and efficiency for subbase to paver ready preparation. This individual will work closely with fellow operators and foremen to ensure formulations, production and long-term quality meets client expectations. Responsibilities: • Operate and maintain grader equipment, specifically CAT 140H, CAT12M, John Deere 672G, and/or John Deere 670 , safely efficiently to produce high quality results. • Maintain the cut and fill, in fine measurements to project specifications within a half a tenth. • Trim road/surface tops to grade; shape and finish shoulders and slopes efficiently with precision and accuracy. • Uphold Rock Solid’s rigorous equipment maintenance standards. • Adhere strictly to all safety protocols and initiatives. • Ensure compliance with all pertinent Federal, State, and Department of Transportation (DOT) and Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) regulations. • Consistently maintain clear and professional communication. • Execute thorough pre and post-trip inspections on a daily basis and promptly report any issues or malfunctions for repair. • Maintain clean, safe and operable equipment including basic maintenance – fluids, greasing, cleaning, tiller teeth, etc. • Demonstrate proficiency in utilizing mobile applications to enter project date and manage documentation and paperwork flow. • Operate various equipment as required, including but not limited to reclaimers, compactors, spreaders, and water trucks. • Perform other related duties as required and assigned. • Acknowledge fluctuation in working hours due to project demands, workload variability and seasonal factors. Qualifications: • Minimum of 21 years of age. • High school diploma, or GED equivalent • Minimum of 2 years fine grading experience required. • Required to travel (nationwide) for various lengths of time (2 months) with 3-week breaks. • Operational experience of any/all of the following equipment is highly preferred: reclaimers, compactors, spreaders, and/or water trucks. • Proven skills to understand grade stakes and knowledgeable use of GPS, laser guidance systems, sonar guidance systems are advantageous. • Class A CDL preferred. Must be obtained within first year employed. • Union Operator credentials preferred. • Proven ability to deliver high-quality projects on tight schedules • Inviolable and effective decision-making skills. • Positive history of employment with no recent major citations or violations and verification of previous employment. • Successfully pass pre-employment background check and drug testing requirements. • Navigates quickly and adapts to changing schedules. • Mechanical knowledge to troubleshoot minor equipment issues. Compensation: $1,500 - $2,500 per week
