    Rock West Composites, Inc. has an exciting opportunity for a HR GENERALIST.

     

    Rock West Composites, Inc. is an engineering and manufacturing company dedicated to providing innovative solutions for commercial and government customers. This position is located in our San Diego, CA-92154 location and reports to the Director of HR.

     

    Position Summary:

    The HR Generalist/Administrator will have administrative and support responsibilities, helping us to plan and administer important functions. Position will undertake a wide range of HR tasks and will use HR Systems to ensure all employee records are up-to-date and confidential. Will also act as a point of contact for employees’ queries on HR-related topics. This position’s primary focus is on compliance, employee relations and is responsible for front office administration, but has secondary responsibilities to serve as back up for the other HR Generalist.

    The goal is to ensure the HR department’s operations will be running smoothly and effectively to deliver maximum value to the organization as a whole.

     

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    • Maintenance of HRIS
    • Maintenance of personnel records
    • Conduct new hire orientation. Make improvements to new hire orientation and on-boarding experience
    • Liaise with external partners, like insurance vendors, and ensure legal compliance
    • Assist the Human Resources Team with on-going projects and programs.
    • Provide an effective and dedicated HR advisory service to employees in relation to absence and health issues, conduct and capability, grievance matters, organizational change, and all other employee-relations matters
    • Assist in the communication, interpretation, and upkeep of employee handbook, employee directory, and organizational chart, and contributes to the development of policies
    • Assist in development of HR objectives and systems, including metrics, queries, and standard reports for ongoing company requirements
    • Assist in administering compensation and employee performance programs
    • Suggest new procedures and policies to continually improve efficiency of the HR department and organization as a whole, and to improve employee experience
    • Ensure legal compliance of HR state and federal regulations and applicable employment laws, and update policies and/or procedures as required
    • Assist Operations with Safety program i.e., safety related discipline and other administrative functions
    • Work with managers to ensure trainings are recorded and up to date to comply with AS9100 record keeping standards
    • Administer and analyze Employee Satisfaction Surveys quarterly
    • Complete annual reporting:
      • 401k Compliance Reporting
      • Assist with EEO reporting as needed
    • Organize and conduct employee morale events
    • Organize and conduct company wellness program
    • Assist with sourcing for techs and production roles (TAM will conduct interviews)
    • Assist with offer letters
    • Conduct candidate references
    • Coordinating meetings and lunches as needed for facility and special events
    • Receiving visitors at the front desk by greeting, welcoming, directing and announcing them appropriately
    • Answering, screening, and forwarding incoming phone calls as well as managing the phone system
    • Receiving, sorting, distribute daily mail
    • Reviewing and correcting timecards weekly and timely
    • Helping organize and maintain for office common areas
    • Performing general office clerk duties
    • Ensure reception area is tidy and presentable, with all necessary stationery and material (e.g., pens, forms and brochures)
    • Provide basic and accurate information in-person and via phone/email
    • Maintain office security by following safety procedures and controlling access via the reception desk (monitor logbook, issue visitor badges)
    • Update calendars and schedule meetings
    • Assist office personnel with various clerical tasks

     

    Required Education and Experience:

    • Bachelor’s degree or 5 years of experience
    • PHR or SHRM-CP desired
    • Additional HR training or experience is a plus
    • Minimum of 3 years of general HR experience
    • Bilingual (Spanish) Preferred
    • Strong Excel skills
    • Strong verbal, written communication skills and interpersonal skills
    • Ability to work independently, remain flexible, and handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
    • Strong problem-solving skills, resourceful and attention to detail, producing accurate deliverables.
    • Sound judgment capability
    • Knowledge of federal, state, and local employment law
    • Thorough knowledge of HR procedures and policies
    • Ability to handle and maintain confidential information
    • Proficient in MS Office, HRIS systems, and comfortable learning new technical systems as needed. ATS experience preferred
    • Excellent ethics and cultural awareness
