    TPC River Highlands is a private par-70, 6,841-yard course located in Cromwell, Conn., just outside of Hartford. TPC River Highlands’ championship golf course hosts the PGA TOUR’s Travelers Championship, the largest professional sports event in Connecticut. The golf course at TPC River Highlands was named by Golf Digest “One of the Top 10 Golf Courses in the State” and the “Best Private Course in the State” by Connecticut Golfer Online for six consecutive years.

     

    TPC River Highlands is looking for an INTERN to learn and assist in the Golf Course Maintenance department.

     

    The Golf Course Maintenance Internship Program is designed to provide turf management or agronomy college students with a practical, hands-on learning experience in golf course maintenance operations, agronomic plan management and professional golf tournament preparation. This internship offers interns the unique opportunity to develop a diverse array of skills in the maintenance of both tournament and non-tournament playing conditions.

     

    The Program offers candidates the opportunity to gain the supervised work experience necessary to become Assistant Golf Superintendents. Students will be introduced to the agronomic elements of golf course maintenance as well as such critical concepts as personnel management, financial management, equipment operation and maintenance, maintenance facility organization and upkeep, fertilizer and pesticide application techniques, pesticide laws and regulations, member and guest communication, and environmental stewardship, among others.

     

    This internship is available approximately May 1, 2019 and is open to turf science and agronomy majors. The pay range for this position is $11-$12/hour.

  • Qualifications

     

    • Ability and flexibility to work in a three shift, large manufacturing environment.Assist with the maintenance and operation of the Environmental, Health and Safety programReinforce safety practices and procedures, mainly within a manufacturing environment
    • Review accident and incident reports with evaluation and corrective actions
    • Manage all WSIB claims (investigations, documentation)
    • Coordinate with Ministry of Labour as needed
    • Lead RTW and modified duty programs 
    • Maintain filing system with regards to work related employee medical records and MSDS database
    • Maintain relationship with regulatory agencies (WSIB, MOL, MOE)
    • Hazard Risk Assessment evaluations, developing and working with team to develop preventative measures as well as corrective actions
    • Conduct facility safety training including new hire safety orientation
    • Maintain Contractor Safety Program
    • Ability to develop, communicate ad implement project management plans
    • Prepare required EHS reports for site, corporate, and government purposes and ensure all facilities comply with regulatory standards. 
    • Liaison with Manufacturing team
    • Other duties as assigned
