    Rocky Mountain Institute’s (RMI) Empowering Clean Economies Program combines the work RMI has been doing through the Islands Energy Program in the Caribbean Islands and the Africa Energy Program in sub-Saharan Africa. The Africa Energy Program works with sub-Saharan African countries to expand electricity access and drive economic development utilizing clean energy technologies. The Islands Energy Program is currently working with select island partners in the Caribbean to support cost-effective energy transitions to benefit all national stakeholders. The Empowering Clean Economies Program goal is to enable partner countries to fast track economic growth and improve the livelihoods of their communities by prioritizing clean energy planning, project and program implementation support, and by building local energy leadership capacity.

    JOB DESCRIPTION

    RMI is seeking a Program Coordinator with exceptional organizational and communication skills to facilitate successful execution of all operations within the Empowering Clean Economies program, enabling maximum impact and return on investment. This position will report to the Empowering Clean Economies Program Leads. The Program Coordinator plays a key role in ensuring that the knowledge developed by the program is effectively managed and communicated to relevant parties. The Program Coordinator drives efficiency across operations and supports successful execution by monitoring and reporting on progress, resource usage and performance to objectives. He/She will also ensure program budgets and progress are reported to staff and funders, and that the program coordinates and collaborates with stakeholders to drive change.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Maintain program budget by reforecasting on a monthly basis and support with annual budget creation
    • Ensure all team members are properly planned in project management tool
    • Maintain project structures and create new projects when needed in project management tool
    • Review and approve timesheets and expense reports for the program
    • Plan, organize, and execute program-related events
    • Liaison between the program team and RMI’s operational departments
    • Work with Development and the program team to ensure all funding opportunities are up to date in Salesforce on a monthly basis
    • Support program fundraising efforts by ensuring RMI and program qualifications are appropriately referenced in funding proposals
    • Maintain the program’s SharePoint homepages
    • Support program team with full-cycle recruitment
    • Facilitate and manage the monitoring and reporting against all requirements in the program’s grant and contract agreements
    • Act as a liaison between finance and the program to ensure that the correct rates are being used for budgets in funding proposals and contracts
    • Manage invoices, current contracts, creation of new contracts and relationships with current and future program contractors
    • Facilitate and manage procurement processes for the program with the support from RMI’s Compliance Manager
    • Support the team in establishing a legal entity in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia for RMI
    • Be the point person for the program team on travel safety procedures and guidelines
    • Additional responsibilities, as required

    QUALIFICATIONS INCLUDE:

    • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
    • A minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible administrative, operations, project management or related experience
    • Experience in managing multiple funding sources
    • International and cross-cultural experience highly desired
    • Strong team and interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently
    • Experience working with senior staff in various organizations and governments
    • Ability to manage stakeholder relationships
    • Strong verbal and written communications skills
    • Proven organization skills and flexibility when it comes to balancing priorities
    • Proficient budgeting, finance, and project management skills
    • Demonstrable problem-solving skills
    • Ability to effectively multitask
    • Good judgment and strong decision-making ability
    • Attention to detail and exceptional accuracy
    • Proficient in Salesforce
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office software skills
    • Willingness to travel
