    Job Description

    The Previs/Postvis Artist conceptualizes whole shots and sequences to convey the director’s vision, working from a storyboard or script, ensuring to meet the high quality standards of Rodeo FX. Using 2D elements, 3D assets or live plates, they create the visual language for the film.

    MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Create quality animatic sequences narrating a story for high-end VFX projects;
    • Participate in the development of aesthetic and technical solutions to support the storytelling; 
    • Execute scene staging, camera animation, composition, lensing and animation blocking with and without boards;
    • Create 2D and 3D assets necessary to the visualization process; 
    • Create 3D animations for different types of objects, animals and characters; 
    • Work closely with the CG Supervisor and Previs/Postvis Lead to find creative and technical solutions and approaches that enhance shots, while meeting project specifications and deadlines;
    • May participate in the development of tools and techniques for the department;
    • Perform quality control on shots before they are submitted for review/approval, ensuring all technical and creative standards are met, and promptly apply notes received;
    • Keep Production and the project team informed of the status of work, issues to be resolved, ramifications of problems encountered and recommend potential solutions;
    • Ensure deadlines are met, advising the project team promptly if delays could be expected.

     

  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    • Experience in a similar position, within the VFX industry;
    • Strong knowledge of cameras, staging, composition, perspective, pacing, timing, lighting and general filmmaking concepts in both animation and live action context;
    • Ability to model, texture, rig and light optimize assets for real-time workflow in the maya viewport;
    • Excellent knowledge of Unreal, Nuke and Maya software;
    • Excellent sense of prioritization and respect of deadlines.
