  • Responsibilities

    The Head Strength and Conditioning Coach reports to the Athletic Director and will develop programs that enhance the strength, conditioning, and movement development for student athletes.  The Head Strength and Conditioning Coach will work collaboratively with the Sports Medicine staff and coaches to promote the health, safety, and performance of student athletes.  

     

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Help develop, implement, and monitor daily, weekly, and yearly strength and conditioning programs for assigned varsity sports programs at Stetson University
    • Ensure the Stetson weight room meets the standards of excellence in quality and functionality for modern weight training equipment and maintain a clean and safe environment in which to train championship caliber athletes and teams
    • Provide the proper instruction, supervision and compliance of all strength and conditioning related activities
    • The coach’s time will be both 'direct teaching and supervision' for designated sports, to indirect daily and weekly supervision
    • Help oversee the Performance Nutrition area and aid in the education of student assistant strength coaches
    • Work closely with NCAA Athletic Compliance staff to ensure adherence to all applicable NCAA, conference, and university regulations
    • Upon notification of any NCAA violation, the coach will report the violation to the Athletics Compliance Office
    • Follow applicable procedures and cooperate fully with investigations of potential violations of NCAA, conference, university, or departmental rules and regulations
    • Contributes to a work environment that encourages knowledge of, respect for, and development of skills to engage those of other cultures or backgrounds
    • Contributes to the overall success of the University’s intercollegiate athletics program by performing all other duties and responsibilities as assigned
    • Performs other duties as assigned

     

    MINIMUM EDUCATION:  Bachelors degree

    Required Skills

    • CPR/AED certification and First Aid training are required
    • Computer skills, Word, Excel, Outlook
    • Able to demonstrate an excellent knowledge of sports nutrition and experience teaching student-athletes on the subject.
    • Must be able and willing to work evening, weekend and holiday hours

    Required Experience

    • Bachelor's Degree required
    • Minimum of two years of strength and conditioning coaching experience
    • Current certification by National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) as Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (SCSC) or by the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association (CSCCA) as Strength and Conditioning Coach Certified (SCCC)
    • Extensive knowledge and comprehensive understanding of rules and regulations of NCAA Division I
    • Valid Florida driver's license, able to be insured by the University.
