Rogers Behavioral Health, the area's leader in behavioral health services, is looking for a POOL Intake Specialist to join our Oconomowoc location on AM and PM shifts.
Intake Specialists serve as patient advocates and allow access to life-changing care for members of the community. Intake Specialists work within a collaborative team including physicians, providers, other intake specialists and many other members of a multidisciplinary team. Key responsibilities for this position will include (but are not limited to):
- Navigate in-person and phone inquiries for services by describing levels of care, screening for services, and providing program recommendation
- Explain insurance coverage to patients throughout admission process and answer related financial questions
- Assist in coordination of admissions with patients and/or their representative to include admissions information, directions, and information about the program they will be entering
- Educate patients and/or their representatives during the admissions process and related intake forms
REQUIREMENTS:
- High School Diploma required; bachelor’s degree preferred in human services. Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a health care setting, HIM, admissions, or billing preferred. Customer service experience required.
- One full year in a previous Intake Specialist role.
- Demonstrates the following qualities: reliable, dependable, and good customer service skills as evidenced by managing time efficiently, showing up to work on time, prepared, working independently without constant need of supervision, handling challenging callers with ease.
- No disciplines in the past 12-month period.
- Demonstrates ability to handle higher volume while still providing quality in work performed.
- Performs customer service with difficult callers and helps navigate the situation without the help of lead or manager.
- Working knowledge of managed care environment, procedures and criteria.
- Knowledge of psychiatric clinical criteria.
- Familiarity with managed care and reimbursement system process. Previous hospital utilization review experience is preferred.
- Knowledge of medical/psychiatric/chemical dependency diagnosis, treatment process, and Joint Commission medical record standards.
- Formal Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) training is required within sixty (60) days of the date of hire. Annual re-certification is required.
- Interpreting: To be eligible for interpret services within the admissions department for the purposes of completing screenings and coordinating admissions. This is not a job requirement for the intake specialist position.
- Must be fluent in source and target language.
- Interpreter is only to function in the role as an intake specialist.
- All Admitting policies and procedures apply.
- Maintain certification as an interpreter for the specified language.
- Valid driver license preferred, and must be granted insurable status by the Rogers Memorial Hospital insurance policy.
- Must pass pre-employment background and drug screen
- Must be fully vaccinated for COVID unless approved for a medical or religious exemption
PREFERRED JOB SKILL KNOWLEDGE:
- Hospitality and customer service experience
- Experience and proficiency with various technology outlets, including computer, software programs and sophisticated phone system
Department is staffed 24 hours / 7 days a week
- Shift: Pool - minimum 1 shift/ week. Potential for 2-5 shifts / week depending on department schedule needs.
- AM and PM shift coverage, potential for NOC coverage
- Weekend and holiday rotation is required
