    Independent Electric's Lead Warehouse Associates are responsible for general warehouse operations including loading, handling freight claims, and packaging materials. In addition to ensuring our customers receive their orders accurately and efficiently, you will be the point of contact when Warehouse Associates need assistance with their daily tasks.

    WHAT YOU WILL DO:

    • Load, unload, and move materials from storage to staging sites and/or designated areas per each sales ticket.
    • Use work orders and verbal instructions to assemble materials and containers which need to be picked, moved, or staged.
    • Collect and pick all materials included customer orders using the pick ticket.
    • Package merchandise for shipment to ensure maximum efficiency and reduce damage during the shipping process.
    • Properly wrap, label, and mark material for easy identification and loading.
    • Use Eclipse to confirm picking and staging of materials, ensuring proper piece count for drivers and customers.
    • Load materials onto vehicles and properly secure cargo.
    • Unload incoming vehicles, prepare necessary receiving documents, and receive the materials.
    • Safely operate all the necessary equipment in the work area. Operate industrial truck or electric hoist to assist in loading or moving materials and products.
    • Count, weigh or measure incoming or outgoing items to compare identifying information and variety against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records; examine incoming shipments for damage or shortages and correspond with purchasing.
    • Perform regular counting of inventory, including running off wire and inspecting items for damage.
    • Communicate when supply inventory levels are low.
    • Other duties, as assigned.

    Required Skills

    • Knowledge of automated or computerized system operation.
    • Data-entry, reporting, and recordkeeping skills.
    • Knowledge of safety practices, and wears PPE as assigned.
    • Ability to operate hand tools including wire cutting equipment.
    • Ability to operate a forklift and other material handling equipment. Must be Forklift Operation Certified after hire.
    • Knowledge of cargo securement techniques, chains, binders, straps, ropes, knots, plastic wrap, and cargo dunnage used.
    • Strong mathematical skills to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, including fractions and decimals.
    • Must be able to read and interpret invoices and packing slips.
    • Strong communication skills both orally and in writing. Able to present information to management, customers, vendors, employees, and the public.
    • Problem-solving skills including collecting and presenting data, establishing facts, and drawing valid conclusions to solve practical problems where only limited information and standardization exists.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint is preferred.
    • Must be a team player and abide by IES’s strong core values and beliefs.

    Required Experience

    • High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED), required; an Associates degree is preferred.
    • Two to four years of experience in a related warehouse or distribution environment, preferred.
