    SUMMARY:

    The Research Data Scientist utilizes advanced statistical, mathematics, data mining, and predictive modeling to support research, clinical and operational initiatives at Rogers Behavioral Health. The conceptualization, development, testing and execution of algorithms is utilized to drive evidence-based practice evaluation and implementation.  This role helps determine research needs and appropriate methodology for designing research studies and analyzing results. This role collaborates with research, clinical and operations teams to analyze and interpret results. The experienced Research Data Scientist may also serve as a principal investigator, conducting independent research, developing manuscripts and presentation of results.  The successful candidate will also be able to provide training and guidance to other roles within the organization, as well as possess an in-depth knowledge of federal regulations, hospital policies/procedures, qualities standards, and guidance for measurement-based care, and healthcare data analysis procedures.

     

    JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Develop data analytics plans for clinical and operations activities utilizing various datasets (unstructured and structured)
    • Collaborate with stakeholders to develop data analytics plans.
    • Employ programming to clean, analyze, and organize the data.
    • Cleaning and validating the data to ensure accuracy, completeness, and uniformity
    • Mine and analyze data to drive improvement of treatment program development.
    • Performs both qualitative analysis and quantitative analysis on large data sets to understand trends and relationships between variables to gain predictive insights.
    • Develop custom predictive data models and algorithms to apply to data sets.
    • Partner with different functional teams to implement models and monitor outcomes.
    • Develop processes and tools to monitor and analyze model performance and data accuracy.
    • Assist in the publication of research projects.
    • Participate in the development of written reports and oral presentations summarizing data analysis results and detailed description of statistical methods.
    • Secure safe storage of patient-sensitive documents.
    • Assure appropriate disposal of sensitive documents.
    • Evaluate employees objectively and provide employees with periodic feedback.
    • Include requirements and guidelines from external agencies (i.e., Joint Commission, State of Wisconsin).

     

    EDUCATION/TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:

    • Master’s Degree or Doctoral Degree in Data Science or similar field with emphasis on Machine Learning, Predictive Analytics, Advanced Analytics, Stream Processing, Visualizations, Natural language processing required
    • PhD Highly Preferred
    • Knowledge of healthcare EMR systems, data structures, regulations and practices related to handling of protected health information, and prior analytical experience working with medical or mental health data is preferred
    • Thorough understanding and observation of ethical guidelines and regulations relating to human subject research, and research using health information
    • Prior experience, preparing, conducting, writing and presenting organized human subject research projects, preferred
    • Experience working with and creating data architectures and data pipelines preferred
    • Computer proficiency and fluency with Microsoft Office tools required
    • Experience using statistical computer languages (R, Python, etc.) to manipulate data and draw insights from large data sets
    • Knowledge and experience using a variety of machine learning techniques (clustering, deep learning, decision tree learning, artificial neural networks, Natural language processing, simulation, scenario analyses, modeling, neural networks, etc.) and their real-world advantages/drawbacks
    • Knowledge of advanced statistical techniques and concepts (regression, properties of distributions, etc.) and experience with applications
    • Experience with survey evaluation (psychometrics) and reliability analyses required
    • Must pass pre-employment background and drug screen
    • Must be fully vaccinated for Covid unless approved for a medical or religious exemption
