  • Responsibilities

    SCOPE:  The Supervisor, Research & Development is responsible for assisting and working with company operations facilities to solve technical issues encountered during the manufacturing processes. The Supervisor, Research & Development will deploy to company facilities as required to support new business start-ups, business transfers, raw material qualifications and defect/efficiency resolution.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Works independently and travels to company locations to support manufacturing operations with technical based solutions.
    • Performs root-cause analysis on manufacturing issues and validates solutions.
    • Acts as a technical liaison between company operations and the core Global Research & Development team and coordinates testing, analysis and trials through the Global Research & Development Center.
    • Writes reports and recommendations on manufacturing concerns and communicates regularly with company facilities management and external customers.
    • Schedules, coordinates and manages manufacturing trials to evaluate technical solutions, process improvement initiatives and raw material qualifications.
    • Facilitates process-related projects and programs in support of continuous improvement initiatives.
    • Writes manufacturing specifications and performs audits and compliance exercises for the maintenance of specifications.

    QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

    • Must have a minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent.
    • Must have ten (10) years of experience in the technical function of packaging converting machinery i.e. printing presses, lamination machines, cutters, gluers, window machines, press-form machines, etc.
    • A basic understanding of material science, the scientific method and laboratory safety discipline is required.
    • Required experience in the lamination of packaging materials such as papers, paperboard and films.
    • Prefer candidate with a bachelor’s degree in packaging, industrial engineering or equivalent.
