    SUMMARY:

    The Education Specialist is responsible for providing classroom time, completing appropriate screenings, and coordinating communication between the Programs & the schools. This information may include treatment plan goals including length of stay targets, assessments, behavioral techniques, and related specifics.

     

    JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Serve as an internal & external resource regarding educational placement concerns.
    • Participates in the development of clinical & educational programming.
    • Work in partnership with the Marketing department to promote the Child/Adolescent Programs.
    • Complete the initial admission functions and documentation.
    • Attend appropriate school sessions, Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings and conferences and document summary in the medical record.
    • Implement the education therapy programming.
    • Coordinate discharge planning regarding the educational placement and needs of the patients.
    • Act as the primary resource for patients, parents, and guardians regarding school concerns.
    • Attend daily staffing meetings, communicate with the interdisciplinary team.
    • Provides appropriate documentation in the patient’s medical record.
    • Conduct self in a professional manner.
    • Demonstrate organizational skills that promote timely responses.

     

    EDUCATION/TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:

    • Bachelor’s degree in education, psychology or related field is required.
    • Direct experience working with children/adolescents in a behavioral health or education setting preferred.
    • A valid drivers’ license.
    • An American Heart Association Healthcare Provider CPR certification or American Red Cross Professional Rescue is required within 30 days of date of hire. Annual re-certification is required.
    • Formal training in management of the aggressive patient within 60 days of the date of hire. Annual re-certification is required.
    • Must pass pre-employment background and drug screen.

    SALARY:

    $16.20-$20.25/HOUR BASED ON YOUR EXPERIENCE
