SUMMARY:
The Education Specialist is responsible for providing classroom time, completing appropriate screenings, and coordinating communication between the Programs & the schools. This information may include treatment plan goals including length of stay targets, assessments, behavioral techniques, and related specifics.
JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Serve as an internal & external resource regarding educational placement concerns.
- Participates in the development of clinical & educational programming.
- Work in partnership with the Marketing department to promote the Child/Adolescent Programs.
- Complete the initial admission functions and documentation.
- Attend appropriate school sessions, Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings and conferences and document summary in the medical record.
- Implement the education therapy programming.
- Coordinate discharge planning regarding the educational placement and needs of the patients.
- Act as the primary resource for patients, parents, and guardians regarding school concerns.
- Attend daily staffing meetings, communicate with the interdisciplinary team.
- Provides appropriate documentation in the patient’s medical record.
- Conduct self in a professional manner.
- Demonstrate organizational skills that promote timely responses.
EDUCATION/TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree in education, psychology or related field is required.
- Direct experience working with children/adolescents in a behavioral health or education setting preferred.
- A valid drivers’ license.
- An American Heart Association Healthcare Provider CPR certification or American Red Cross Professional Rescue is required within 30 days of date of hire. Annual re-certification is required.
- Formal training in management of the aggressive patient within 60 days of the date of hire. Annual re-certification is required.
- Must pass pre-employment background and drug screen.
SALARY:
$16.20-$20.25/HOUR BASED ON YOUR EXPERIENCE
