    Under the direction of the Director, the Clinical Wound Ostomy and Continence Nurse (WOCN) Specialist oversees the Wound Care program throughout the facility.  Responsible for assisting hospital staff and physicians in the care of patients with stomas, draining wounds, fistulae, incontinence or potential or actual tissue trauma.  Plans, assesses, and promotes Wound Care interventions.  Provides patient/family/staff educational needs and care in accordance with hospital policies by developing and updating programs.  Responsible for coordinating studies, audits, and reporting requirements as assigned. Supports the philosophy of PIH Health Good Samaritan Hospital to provide superior patient service. *VR

     

     

     

    Required Skills

    Required:

    1. Registered nurse with current California license in good standing.
    2. Two years recent medicial surgical experience or One year of enterostomal experience.
    3. WOCN Board Certified
    4. CPR certified.

    Preferred:

    • Bilingual Spanish/English strongly preferred.

     

     

     

     

    Required Experience

    1. Demonstrates good interpersonal skills with patients, staff and physicians.
    2. Professional and appropriate in communicating with staff, physicians, patients and visitors.
    3. Knowledge of age appropriate adult learning principles and the ability to teach and develop an effective patient education program.
    4. Knowledge of general nursing theory and practice including but not limited to asepsis and sterile-technique principle of body mechanics, medication administration.
    5. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with interruptions and varied work demands.
    6. Ability to plan and organize workload.
