    Under direct supervision of the Fire Alarm Inspection Manager, performs general inspection, testing, corrective and preventative maintenance of fire/life safety equipment throughout PIH Health.

    Required Skills

    • Knowledge and experience in testing suppression systems and special extinguishing systems such as Halon and FM-200.
    • Strong communication skills; excellent telephone manner; strong English and grammar skills.
    • Strong organizational skills; detail oriented; accurate.
    • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
    • Ability to work with minimal supervision, and under the pressure of deadlines.
    • Strong knowledge and experience with testing complex fire alarm system, smoke management system, emergency power system, and water delivery systems.

    Required Experience

    Required:

    • High School, GED or trade school graduate preferred with courses in arithmetic, mathematics, and electricity.
    • Minimum one (1) year of experience in fire life safety inspections and testing.
    • Demonstrate competence in electrical mechanical and fire life safety equipment.
    • Valid California Driver’s License and automobile insurance.
    • NICET and/or Los Angeles Chief’s Regulation 4 Certificate of Fitness Certified within 6 months of employment.
    • LA City Fire Card within six (6) months of employment

     

    Preferred:

    • Hospital experience
    • Intermediate level computer skills; specifically in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
    • Ability to read blue prints and sequence of operations.
    • Strong knowledge of NFPA 72 and NFPA 25.
    • Ability to operate all types of Fire Alarm Systems which will also include the disabling of these systems.
    • EST-3 Certified.
    • NICET Certified Level 2 or currently in process
