  • Responsibilities

    The Surveyor gathers the necessary field information regarding aerial and buried or underground Outside Plant (OSP) telecommunications cables and associated facilities.

     

    • Retrieve planning documents from ADTRAN designated system
    • Validate information provided by planning and engage as needed for clarity
    • Complete accelerated site survey form
    • Complete picture package
    • Complete leave behind package and leave with customer
    • Load all documents into ADTRAN designated system
    • Perform inspections during and after construction to ensure compliance with original designs and customer specifications
    • Understand OSP principles, work order procedures, telecommunication industry standards and be in compliance with the latest revisions of any relevant Safety Codes, Electric Codes, customer practices and procedures, local and governmental jurisdiction and be in accordance with instructions supplied by customer.

     

    Requirements

    • High School Diploma or GED required. Associates Degree preferred.
    • 8+ years of previous experience as a Site Surveyor is required.
    • PLS/LSIT certification is preferred.
    • Understanding of construction detailing.
    • Excellent verbal, written, phone, and interpersonal skills.
    • Proven strong analytical / problem solving skills.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
    • Communications -- The applicant must be able to positively and professionally interact with all levels of Management, outside vendors, and co-workers in order to create strong working relationships. Applicant must have the ability to effectively present/communicate information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. The applicant must write and speak effectively, clearly, and concisely, solicit and consider employee input, listen to others, respond professionally to feedback, and ask questions to ensure understanding.

    Problem Solving - The applicant should be able to anticipate problems, see how a problem and its solution will affect others, gather information prior to making decisions, weigh alternatives against objectives, and arrive at a reasonable solution.
