    JOB SUMMARY:

    The Information technology technician is a staff position within the IT support group accountable for ensuring continuity of computer system services for computer users by providing the technical expertise, assistance and project coordination necessary to install computer software products, modify/repair hardware and resolve technical problems.

     

    ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    1. Assure continuity of the computer system for all system users.
    2. Install selected software and hardware products.
    3. Repair hardware as necessary and work closely with service vendors to ensure continuity of service.
    4. Support phone and internet system throughout the hospital
    5. Stay abreast of the latest developments in information technology.
    6. Install and troubleshoot network printers.
    7. Provide technical assistance and advice to users as needed.
    8. Recommend changes in software and hardware to improve computer capabilities.
    9. Assist in implementing practices that will more effectively utilize IT resources.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, COMPETENCIES, QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

     

    1. Associates degree or equivalent education required.
    2. Candidate must have at least 2 -5 years of hands on IT experience
    3. Excellent typing and computer skills
    4. Strong interpersonal skills necessary.
    5. Ability to get along well with other people/coworkers/patients.
    6. Ability to project a positive team attitude.
    7. Steady attendance and flexibility in schedule.
    8. BLS certification

     

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS

     

    1. Will be required to lift equipment frequently requiring the ability to lift 75 pounds.
    2. Must be able to exert at least 50 pounds of force to assist with moving equipment.
    3. Frequent standing, bending, and stooping involved.
    4. Ability to crawl under desks and into tight spaces.
    5. Dexterity: Frequent repetitive motion of hands/wrist involved.
    6. May be required to deal with unpleasant environmental situations resulting from patient care or patient activity.
    7. Hazards & Risks: Contact with trash bags and other medical waste could include exposure to communicable disease. Will have exposure to odors and dust. Hazards exist with working on/around electrical and mechanical equipment and cleaning chemicals.
