POSITION PURPOSE:
Responsible for moving tractors and trailers on the premises, starting refrigeration units, preparing trucks for deliveries. Covers for drivers and makes local deliveries when necessary.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES:
- Sets tractor trailer combinations for loading product scheduled for delivery.
- Starts refrigeration units; checks units periodically.
- Pulls loaded trailers away from dock and secures trailer doors.
- Coordinates loading schedules with warehouse supervisors.
- Ensures trucks have received pre-trip inspection prior to driver departure.
- Notifies drivers of potential late load situations.
- Ensures returning trucks are refueled, if necessary.
- Makes local deliveries, as necessary and covers various routes in emergency (book-off) situations.
- Assists warehouse personnel with unloading/cleaning trailers.
- Operates powered industrial equipment such as electric pallet jacks and forklifts, as necessary.
- Shuttles trucks to and from truck rental facilities if necessary.
- Performs other duties as necessary and required
PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENTS:
- Trucking functions are completed in accordance with Company standards and procedures including quality standards and safety regulations.
- Effective communication and coordination exist with Company personnel and with management. Assistance and support are provided as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:
- High School Diploma or GED Equivalent. Valid medical card as prescribed by the Federal Motor Carrier Administration and a valid state specific Commercial Drivers License, Class A.
- Ability to pass a written exam and road test.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE:
- Thorough knowledge of human resource procedures, policies, federal/state laws and regulations, corporate policy, and employee benefit programs.
- Understanding of related computer applications.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- Prefer minimum of one year verified experience operating a tractor trailer. Must be 21 years of age.
- System implementation experience is preferred.
SKILLS/ABILITIES:
- Ability to speak, read and write English well.
- Safe driving skills, ability to drive large tractor trailers and ability to use forklifts and related delivery equipment.
- Ability to read maps and written directions.
- Ability to pass a post-offer employment physical and drug test and subsequent enrollment in a random pool of drivers for drug and alcohol testing as required by law.
- Strong Interpersonal, communication, organizational and customer service skills.
- Ability to communicate with co-workers and supervisors
