    University Health Physicians, the physician group practice for TRUMAN MEDICAL CENTERS, is recruiting faculty at the Assistant or Associate Professor level in the Department of Emergency Medicine at the UNIVERSITY OF MISSOURI-KANSAS CITY SCHOOL OF MEDICINE. Candidates must be board-certified/board-eligible emergency physicians. All qualified candidates will be considered, but preference will be given to candidates with research experience or fellowship training. Compensation and benefits are competitive.

     

    Truman Medical Center is a level I trauma center and STEMI center. The ED has an annual volume of 62,000 adult patients in a modern, state-of-the-art facility with 48 beds. The Department supports one of the nation’s oldest fully accredited three-year residency programs, with 33 residents. In addition, the Department provides EMS medical direction for the Kansas City Missouri Fire Department and recently founded a Medical Education/Simulation fellowship.

    • Completes discharge planning by consulting with physicians, nurses, social workers, and other health care workers; contributing to patient care conferences.
    • Assures continuation of therapeutic plan following discharge by designing and instructing patients, families, and caregivers in home exercise programs; recommending and/or providing assistive equipment; recommending outpatient or home health follow-up programs.
    • Documents patient care services by charting in patient and department records.
    • Maintains patient confidence and protects hospital operations by keeping information confidential.
    • Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
    • Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols.Ensures operation of equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs.
