  • Responsibilities

    The Senior Director of Enterprise Risk Management at PIH Health oversees and strategizes risk management activities at the PIH Health Whittier and Downey Hospital campuses, encompassing the comprehensive management of the PIH Health Corporate Compliance program across the enterprise. Collaborating with the organization’s leadership, the role involves developing and implementing risk management plans, standardizing processes to manage patient adverse events, and transitioning to a proactive risk prevention model. By leading investigations into safety events, managing claims, and advancing patient safety and care quality initiatives, this role plays a crucial part in safeguarding the facility's assets. Reporting directly to the Vice President of Enterprise Risk Management, this position is integral to driving strategic risk management efforts at PIH Health.

    • Knowledge of regulatory requirements, state, and federal laws.
    • Knowledge of pertinent regulations related to patients’ rights statutory provisions including but not limited unrepresented patient medical decision making, California Probate and Business Professions codes on ineffective care and consent for medical care, mental health, and related psychiatric holds.
    • Knowledge of Health Information Portability and Accountability Act (“HIPAA) and E/M coding.

    Required Experience

    Required:

    • RN license
    • Bachelor’s degree
    • A minimum of 5+ years healthcare risk management experience
    • Minimum of 5+ years of experience in a leadership role with direct reports
    • CPHRM or CHC

    Preferred:

    • Master’s degree
    • Prior experience with healthcare corporate compliance or HIPAA compliance program management.
