    JOB DESCRIPTION

     

    TITLE: Logistics Manager DATE WRITTEN: 3/2022

     

    DEPARTMENT: Donated Goods SUPERVISED BY: VP of Donated Goods

     

    SUPERVISES: Truck Drivers STATUS: Salary, Full-time Exempt

    MISSION CONTRIBUTION:

     

    Manages the flow of goods throughout the Donated Goods Operation to minimize waste and maximize profits that help to create jobs and fund services to the community.

     

    FUNCTION:

    To oversee the day-to-day transportation of product from Retail Stores and Attended Donation Centers to the Warehouse.

     

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (must be able to perform these functions, with or without a reasonable accommodation).

    1. Ensures hiring, training, development, supervision, and evaluation of team members within the framework of Goodwill Gulf Coast (GGC) policies and procedures and job descriptions.
    2. Creates a solid team that will deliver excellent financial results and provides a safe, healthy, and productive work and training environment for all team members.
    3. Minimizes accidents and Workers Compensation claims by making sure that safety and accident reporting standards are followed and preventive measures are taken.
    4. Maintain a clean appearance of our trucks.
    5. Provide a high standard of customer service to our internal customers and donors.
    6. Schedule drivers and routes to ensure productive and efficient service to our locations filling in as a driver when necessary
    7. Acts as a positive role model for employees and creates a professional working environment by committing our team to Goodwill Gulf Coast policies and any external requirements for trucks and drivers.
    8. Schedules and/ or maintains labor and payroll in accordance with GGC policies and procedures.
    9. Initiates, completes and submits personnel, new hire and payroll records, accurately, in a timely manner.
    10. Comply with government requirements for documents involving trucks and Drivers
    11. Responsible for ordering and maintaining supplies and all other GGC property in a secured manner in accordance with established budget and practices.
    12. Works with the Risk Management Director to maintain compliance with Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facility standards.
    13. Attends internal and external training as assigned by Director or VP.
    14. May be asked to participate in activities and events that promote and/or generate revenue for the agency.
    15. Performs other duties as assigned by Director or VP.
    16. Regular attendance is required as outlined in Goodwills attendance policy.

    SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES: (these are required to enable job holder to perform the essential functions of the job).

    1. Must be able to interact cordially and productively with a variety of people.
    2. Must be able to market Goodwill Gulf Coast and explain the mission to the general public.
    3. Must be able to take initiative and work well with little supervision.
    4. Must be able to read, write and communicate clearly in English.
    5. Must be able to keep information confidential.

    7. Must establish and maintain an effective working relationship with supervisor and co-workers.
    8. Must be able to work a flexible schedule including nights and weekends.

    10. Must be forklift certified or go through our forklift certification program.
    11. Must have a valid drivers license for at least 3 years, liability automobile insurance and be insurable through the agencys insurance carrier.
    12. Must be at least 21 years of age.
    13. Must pass a drug screen, including random drug testing as required by the Drug Free Workplace policy.

     

    EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

    • High School Diploma or GED required.

    • Minimum of two years of management/supervisory experience preferred.

    • Strong leadership, interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.

    • Prior experience working in the transportation/logistics environment, preferred.

    • Knowledge of U.S. D.O.T. and OSHA regulations, preferred.

    • One year prior truck driving or transportation experience or truck driver training, preferred.

     

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

    • Must be able to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 lbs. frequently, 75lbs. regularly and 100+ lbs. with assistance, occasionally.
    • Ability to engage in frequent bending, stretching and stooping.
    • Ability to engage in prolonged standing, walking and twisting.
    • Ability to push equipment on wheels weighing 50 lbs. to 150 lbs.
    • Ability to use fingers, hands and wrists, repetitively.

     

    WORKING CONDITIONS:

    Considerable physical exertion. Exposure to soiled and damaged donated goods materials. Exposure to a variety of weather conditions (extreme heat, cold, rain, etc.). May be subjected to the usual hazards of highway driving.
