    The Rosalyn Yalow Charter School opened September 1, 2015 with 212 students in grades K and 1, and will reach 536 students as a K-5 school in FY2019-20, our 5th year. Some of our school's key design elements include: qualified staff focused on at-risk students; a robust response-to-intervention team, consisting of special education and ESL teachers overseen by a director of assessment; a quality curriculum, consisting of Core Knowledge Language Arts, Singapore Math, and inquiry-based science; high-quality collaborators, including the Bronx Arts Ensemble for art, dance, and music, chess instructors, and fencing coaches; meticulous data-driven instruction, guided by STEP Literacy assessment and NWEA MAP for math.       

    The Operations team works to ensure the many aspects of running a school are in place so our students have an engaging environment to learn in, parents/guardians feel welcomed at all times and the instructional team has the resources they need to get their work done. We are looking for a Part-Time Building Aide to support operations of the school by performing various duties. This is a great opportunity for someone who wants to gain experience in the administrative side of a school while still interacting with students. The Building Aides will report to the Operations Manager.

    POSITION: PART-TIME SCHOOL BUILDING AIDE

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Food Service: Ensure students are served breakfast, lunch and snack on time, and cafeteria runs smoothly.

    • Arrival & Dismissal: Welcome students in the morning and ensure students are dismissed safely.

    • Buses: Assist with monitoring accurate bus attendance and de/boarding in the morning and afternoon.

    • Recess: Assist with games and other recreational activities.

    • Office Support: Assist with copying, distributing teaching materials, light reception work.

    • Inventory: Inventory and stock supplies.

    • Special Projects: Work on projects assigned by instructional and non-instructional leaders.

    • Student Support: monitoring hallways during transitions, escort students to nurse as needed

    • Classroom Support: Make photocopies for teachers, ensure school documents are delivered/collected from classrooms and processed daily, provide coverage for absent teacher assistants.

    • Events: Assist with planning for school events and activities.

    • Excellent problem-solving & communication skills.

    • Excellent task ownership, initiative and attention to detail.

    • Bilingual in Spanish and/or French a plus.
