Client Services Technician
Summary: Provides technical support for the campus community. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: -Works closely with other EIT personnel to provide unified hardware and software support -Installs, maintains, and performs diagnostics on technologies supported by EIT -Provides support for Institute-owned equipment such as computers, printers, and cellular devices -Provides hardware support for student-owned, Institute-required computers -Diagnoses, identifies, and troubleshoots software-related problems. -While working at the EIT Service Desk serves as central point of contact and first level support for the reporting of questions, concerns, needs, and problems related to telephony, networking, software, institute-owned and student-owned computers and other computing equipment. -Assists in managing the content contained on the EIT and Service Desk web pages, including SharePoint and other campus web environments -Records and tracks all reported items using the institute ticketing system -Recommends system enhancements, modifications and replacements -Responds to technical questions received from Rose-Hulman constituents -Responds quickly to requests for assistance; efficiently and calmly troubleshoots technical problems and independently implements solutions -Maintains a positive attitude of professional, customer-focused service. -Works to establish and reinforce proper use of technology by faculty, staff and students -Creates and maintains accurate written records and technical schematics of technologies installed -Assists in monitoring and mentoring student employees. -Works with EIT staff as well as with other members of campus (Facilities, Instructional Technology, etc.) to ensure that all faculty, staff and students receive excellent technology support and service. -Other duties may be assigned. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Valid driver's license with acceptable MVR (motor vehicle report) required. A+ certification required; vendor platform certification(s), including any prerequisite examinations or certifications. A+ certification must be obtained prior to completing the probationary period. Vendor certifications must be completed within 1 year. Education and/or Experience: High school diploma required; Associate degree or higher in IT-related area preferred. At least 2 years of IT support required (3+ years preferred), which consisted of daily interaction with customers in an IT support-oriented position. Demonstrated creative, flexible and technical problem-solving skills; and ability to work evenings and weekends required. Experience working in higher education desired. Additional Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, the ideal candidate should have extensive familiarity with maintaining and servicing a variety of personal computer hardware and peripherals; familiarity with common computer operating systems, specifically Microsoft Windows 10; familiarity with TCP/IP data networking fundamentals; familiarity with maintaining and servicing network printers; experience collaborating with technical professionals; experience working with vendors; functional knowledge of Internet applications (email and web browsers); spreadsheet and word processing software, preferably Microsoft Excel and Word.
