    OVERVIEW OF THE POSITION:

    The right person for our Legal Assistant/Paralegal role will have prior office experience, be passionate about the legal field, and be a quick and eager learner who is looking for a long-term position with a close-knit team.  This position is ideal for someone looking to get their start in a law firm.  In this role, you will be assisting multiple attorneys with a wide variety of legal tasks as legal assistant, project assistant, and administrative support.  This role will be responsible for the administrative work on client files, in addition to assisting the general office with developing and refining its legal processes.  The right candidate will also be expected to work on entry-level paralegal projects and assignments, and potentially grow into a paralegal role over time depending upon performance. 

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Assist attorneys with client, case, matter, and project management, including drafting and sending engagement and conflict waiver letters, managing document organization of client file in both physical and electronic form, managing/docketing deadlines, and anything else to help the attorneys keep all files at the firm moving forward smoothly
    • Assist with the preparation, formatting, and proofreading of correspondence, memos, pleadings, research outlines, and meeting minutes
    • File documents in federal and state court, including e-filing
    • Produce, edit and format legal documents such as transactional agreements, pleadings, briefs, opinions, complaints, orders, and subpoenas; compose routine letters and memoranda
    • Prepare/maintain minute books, pleading logs, discovery logs, trial notebooks, closing binders, and entity binders
    • Prepare/format corporate documents and effect filing with offices of the Secretary of State
    • Perform UCC searches and filings
    • Coordinate with title companies, gather TRIOs, file deeds, etc., on matters dealing with real estate
    • Complete basic clerical tasks, including data entry; photocopy/scan/fax; organize firm library books
    • Perform any other task required to assist the law firm function effectively

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • 1+ year(s) of relevant office experience, preferably in a legal setting.  Those with administrative assistant experience are encouraged to apply
    • Bachelor’s degree or paralegal certificate from an accredited institution preferred
    • High level of experience in Windows OS, Microsoft Office (especially Word, Excel, and Outlook), and Adobe Acrobat Pro required
    • Consistently demonstrate complete “ownership” mentality for assigned areas/projects/tasks
    • Collaborative team player with excellent listening and communication skills
    • Ability to work independently and use time efficiently
    • Very organized with the ability to balance multiple tasks and competing priorities
    • Works well under pressure and has a high level of attention to detail
    • Strong client-relationship skills as well as the ability to use judgment, tact, discretion, and keep information confidential
