    SUMMARY

    Quality Assurance Technician Associates conduct a variety of daily activities in the Company’s manufacturing facilities. Responsibilities include materials, processes, products, personnel, documentation, finished products and the manufacturing environment to ensure all quality, safety and recordkeeping standards are continuously achieved in accordance with the guidelines set forth by Quality Assurance Management. Quarantines unacceptable raw material and finished product and notifies appropriate management. Responsible for releasing finished product post production after review.  Works with all departments, to ensure policies and procedures are being followed to ensure safe quality food.  

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

    1. Responsible for judging the quality of the materials used in the manufacture of product and to ensure substandard product is retained until corrected, released or rejected. 
    2. Responsible for ensuring sanitation standards are upheld throughout all areas of the facility according to Rosina corporate standards and policies.  
    3. Ensures compliance with all food safety, quality policies and procedures while documenting findings of any issues with detail and accuracy.  
    4. Works pro-actively with all departments to encourage compliance with all Quality Assurance policy & procedures and can educate them when necessary to improve product quality or safety. Can identify situations where Associates are not following procedures. Will bring these situations to the attention of appropriate supervision.   
    5. Will immediately report situations/conditions to Quality Assurance Department supervision/management when quality protocols have not been followed or may be compromised. 
    6. Works with Supervisors and Managers to ensure the entire facility is maintained in accordance with Rosina’s specifications as well as compliance with all applicable government agencies to include but not limited to the USDA, FDA, NYS Ag & Markets and BRC.  
    7. Responsible for receiving raw materials into the Rosina MMS system, along with review of any Certificates of Analysis (COA), ensuring all lot numbers associated are covered. 
    8. Responsible for performing facility audits as described in the QA task list or audits assigned by the Food Safety Team.  
    9. Works with QA Management during outside facility inspections, as they may be called upon to answer questions, or demonstrate knowledge dealing with Rosina Policies and Procedures.  
    10. May be required to work flexible hours within the assigned shift.  
    11. Will be required to continually evaluate and assess raw materials and finished product to determine quality. 
    12. Must be knowledgeable of and perform all duties in compliance with existing USDA, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), State, Federal, company regulations, Internal policies and procedures including, BRC, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s), Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) and safety regulations, including using all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). 
    13. Responsible for all aspects of food safety and quality for raw materials and finished products. 
    14. Responsible for entering and reviewing entries in Quality Management Systems including but not limited to MMS, Safety Chain & Corvium.  
    15. Works as a team player while communicating with all departments, with a positive attitude and professional manner and with associates at all levels of the organization. May be asked to communicate with management during off hours.  
    16. Works in a collaborative manner, to ensure departmental goals, company goals, and objectives are achieved.
    17. Perform other related duties and assignments as required such as: Company and departmental training, QA policy and work instructions, thermometer calibrations, pest control checks, glass and brittle plastic compliance, product retention samples, production equipment evaluations, metal detection compliance, weight and scale knowledge, compliance and calibrations, USDA Holds and sampling process, material and product hold  release processes, pre-operational sanitation inspections, conduct food safety and quality rounds according to Rosina policy, responsible for ensuring temporary repair procedures are followed,  work with computers for food safety and quality evaluations and logging, species and allergen reviews necessary to eliminate any possible product contamination issue, calculate  product divert issues for HACCP CCP non conformity, ability to use a two way radio to communicate, conduct organoleptic reviews of finished product daily. 
    18. Responsible for judging the quality of the materials used in the manufacture of product and to ensure that substandard product is retained until corrected or rejected. 
    19. Is capable of confronting Associates when necessary, to correct or stop production when quality or safety of product have been compromised. 
    20. Works with supervisors to ensure USDA, FDA, NYS and other regulations are followed. 
    21. Ensures the entire facility is maintained in accordance with Rosina’s specifications, and in compliance with all applicable government and agency regulations.

     EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

    Position requires an Associate Degree in an appropriate major, Bachelors degree strongly desired.  Must possess a minimum of 3 to 5 years of manufacturing management experience in a consumer foods products company. Needs to have good knowledge of employment laws and regulations. Needs to have safety experience including general knowledge of OSHA. Individual needs to possess leadership, organizational and communication skills appropriate for the position. Individual needs to have strong computer skills.
