  • Responsibilities

    Roto is searching for a Senior Exhibit Designer to plan, design and co-create custom interactive exhibits, play spaces and immersive experiences for museums, science centers, children’s museums, zoos, aquariums, and similar destinations. The work spans all phases of the design process – from initial master planning stages through detail design – and requires solid knowledge of public visitor behavior, 3D visual communication, fabrication methods and the execution of exceptional built environments. Joining Roto means joining one of our interdisciplinary design studios. Together, our small studio teams of 10-14 interdisciplinary professionals work collaboratively to deliver highly interactive exhibit design, turnkey immersive media, custom architectural features, sophisticated a/v installations, and world-class aquarium and live animal exhibits.

    The role is multidisciplinary, highly versatile and collaborative.

    To be considered, applicants must:

    Provide a portfolio/work samples demonstrating your experience designing custom museum exhibits, play spaces or entertainment attractions.

    Be willing to relocate to the Columbus, Ohio, area. Timing can be negotiated based on individual circumstances.

    Essential Functions

    Research, brainstorm, explore and even rapidly prototype and test creative and innovative design ideas and solutions with an interdisciplinary team

    Co-create high-quality design drawing sets to capture a creative vision and design intent through concept, schematic and detail design phases

    Collaborate with in-house Art Directors, Developers, Project Managers, Engineers, other Designers and independent contractors

    Contribute to and lead teams in achieving exceptional project outcomes and pushing the boundaries of the field

    Craft and present ideas and work product to clients, stakeholders and internal team members

    Qualifications

    Bachelor’s degree in Design, Architecture or related field

    7+ years’ experience in Museum, Exhibition Design or closely-related field

    Fluency in Sketchup (or other 3D modeling programs)

    Fluency in Adobe Creative Suite

    Experience with AutoCAD is preferred

    2D/Graphic design skills are a plus
