The Exhibit Developer/Builder is responsible for developing, designing., producing and installing interactive museum exhibits, play spaces, and entertainment experiences. Work is done in collaboration with other in-house and contracted developers, designers, engineers, and fabricators.
Essential Functions
Support the research, development, and/or costing of prospective new projects.
Contribute to the development of new exhibits and exhibit components, including ideation, research, and documentation. Also includes:
Making, revising or annotating sketches, drawings, plans or models
Sourcing or purchasing equipment and parts
Making or building assemblies
Creating electromechanical and/or microcontroller solutions
Mocking-up and testing prototypes
Testing and quality control
Lead and provide support in the packing, shipping, and installation of exhibits.
Manage and coordinate subcontractors, enforce contract requirements, troubleshoot production issues, and integrate contractor products and schedules.
Qualifications
Minimum 3 years' experience and/or related training in a museum, design/build shop or similar fabrication, construction, mechanical, or industrial technology position.
Must demonstrate the ability to establish and maintain positive and collaborative working relationships.
Proficient in the use of hand tools, power tools, various saws, and drills.
Travel is required, ranging from 4 to 8 weeks per year.
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
