SAFETY MANAGER
We are seeking a detail-oriented, thorough, and organized Safety Manager to join our fast-growing team. You will ensure the general safety of all employees with specific emphasis on field personnel. You will make sure all jobs/projects are being performed within OSHA guidelines and provide advice and recommendations for safety improvements.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage the fleet of vehicles within the company. Auditing, tracking and inspecting vehicle maintenance, repairs and safety.
- Maintain training on Safe Driving within the company employees including daily reviews of our GPS / On-Board vehicle camera systems. This will require the coaching and tracking of driving employees.
- Responsible for Smith Drivers Training program.
- Manage our Excavation Safety program including documentation to ensure records are maintained properly and Competent Persons are properly trained.
- Inspect Excavation projects and work sites for safety.
- Develop safety training programs and maintain documentation of all training records.
- Ensure employees are provided and wearing all proper personal protective equipment and taking safety precautions.
- Maintain proper accident and reporting documentation.
- Ensure statutes, regulations, and codes are clearly understood and met.
- Intervene to stop any acts or processes which are unsafe or do not comply with guidelines.
- Implement preventative measures to ensure unsafe processes are not repeated.
- Update procedures and policies for new regulations or local ordinances.
REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, public administration, engineering, construction, occupational safety and health, or related field or Equivalent work-related experience.
- Two (2) years previous experience in comprehensive workplace safety and compliance programs.
- Solid knowledge of state and federal OSHA excavation and general safety regulations.
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Able to travel approximately two weeks a month to job sites across the Midwest.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently.
- Ability to physically stand, bend, squat, and walk through the work day.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient computer skills, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel).
- Up-to-date on latest local and state regulation and guideline changes.
- Able to work independently.
- Good interpersonal skills and communication with all levels of customers, employees and management.
- This could be a part-time position if the qualified candidate requested.
