    Job Summary

    Are you passionate about preparing nutritious and delicious meals for children? We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Chef to join our childcare center. As a Chef, you will play a vital role in creating a positive dining experience for children by planning, preparing, and serving nutritious meals and snacks for 80-160 students. If you have a love for cooking, an understanding of dietary requirements for young children, and a commitment to promoting healthy eating habits, we would love to hear from you!

    Responsibilities

    Plan and prepare balanced and nutritious meals and snacks for children in accordance with established menus, dietary guidelines, and portion sizes. Prepare most meals from scratch.

    Become familiar with and follow all CACFP guidelines and regulations.

    Ensure that all meals and snacks meet the nutritional needs of children based on their age group

    Follow proper food handling, storage, and sanitation practices

    Monitor inventory of food supplies and ingredients

    Adhere to budgetary constraints while procuring and managing food supplies.

    Maintain accurate records of meals served

    Participate in staff meetings and training sessions on nutrition, food safety, and child health.

    Clean and maintain the kitchen area, including equipment, utensils, and storage spaces.

    Qualifications

    Prior experience as cook/chef

    Knowledge of nutrition and dietary guidelines

    Ability to prepare meals from scratch.

    Familiarity with food safety and sanitation regulations and practices.

    Excellent culinary skills, including meal planning, food preparation, and presentation.

    Strong organizational and time management skills

    Physical stamina and the ability to stand for extended periods

    Flexibility to accommodate occasional changes in menus or schedules.

    A current Food Handler's Certificate or willingness to obtain one.

    A genuine passion for cooking and promoting healthy eating habits among children.
