Position Summary
The Controller is responsible for developing and implementing and/or maintaining one or a
combination of generally accepted accounting systems, preparing and analyzing financial
reports and journal entries, maintain WIP report, maintaining and reconciling ledger accounts,
and providing records of assets, liabilities, support CFO and other accounting staff, and oversee bookkeepers.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
- Perform basic accounting procedures (e.g. A/R, A/P, time billing, P/R, G/L, tax payments and inventory control)
- Process payroll for the company
- Prepare financial statements (e.g. monthly and quarterly financial reports, and weekly forecasts to management team summarizing current and projected financial position)
- Month end and quarterly closing (e.g. balance sheets, income statements and cash flow statements)
- Analyze and reconcile general ledger accounts and investment transactions in conjunction with preparing quarterly reports for management
- Assist with annual financial and 401K audits by serving as company liaison with auditors
- Communicate with customers to address any past due invoices on their account
- Produce financial data for management team upon request and assist with other special accounting projects from time to time
- Perform analysis of operations on a monthly basis
- Ensure all active projects are covered by valid, binding contracts
- Create and maintain relationships with banks
- Financial presentations to lenders and other parties when necessary
- Manage GGOB financials and presentations
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field preferred
- CPA License Preferred
- Two or more years of construction accounting experience or similar work environment preferred
- Strong organization, oral and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects and deadlines
- Strong computer aptitude, which includes expertise with Microsoft Excel and Word as well as experience with accounting software and ABC
