Purpose Statement: Rushton Recovery is a behavioral healthcare company dedicated to helping those in need of life-saving treatment for alcoholism or substance abuse addiction. We are seeking an Executive Chef at an inpatient substance abuse treatment program. The Executive Chef will be instrumental in providing well-balanced meals to the clients at our program. Good nutrition can serve as a building block on the road to recovery from drug or alcohol addiction. The right food can not only mitigate drug damage but also provide necessary vitamins and nutrients. The right candidate for this position will understand the vital role nutrition plays in helping those recover.

Reports to: Chief of Operations
Supervises: n/a
Minimum Requirements:
Must be at least 18 years of age or have the proper work permit and work authorization documents.
2+ years of culinary education
In-depth knowledge of federal, state and local food handling regulations
Be able to pass a background check
Ability to lift a minimum of 25 pounds.
Advanced knowledge of food professional principles and practices
In-depth knowledge of federal, state and local food handling regulations
Valid driver’s license
Up to date CPR, preferred. Rushton Recovery will provide training for staff who are not CPR certified.
TB risk assessment upon hire, additional testing may be required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Expert knowledge of the organization’s cuisine
Advanced culinary skills including food preparation, flavor pairings and other cooking best practices
Ability to develop unique recipes
Current knowledge of trends in the culinary industry
Comfortable training, directing and supervising kitchen staff
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Time management and organization
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Developing unique and cuisine-appropriate menus
Ensuring promptness, freshness, and quality of dishes
Designing new recipes, planning menus, and selecting plate presentations
Staying current on developing trends in the culinary industry
Maintaining the kitchen and surrounding areas in conditions that meet the company standards and health
code regulations
Implementing hygiene policies and examining equipment for cleanliness
Monitoring inventory and purchasing supplies and food from approved vendors
Training and supervising kitchen staff
Assisting and directing kitchen staff in meal preparation, creation, plating and delivery
Identifying and introducing new culinary techniques
Preparing meals and completing prep support as needed
Report any health, safety and/or sanitation concerns to your direct supervisor.
Follow established policies governing the use of labels and safety data sheets.
Display tact and friendliness when dealing with clients, staff and guests.
Assist with evacuation of clients in the case of a fire or other emergency.
Maintain clear lines of communication.
