    Job Description

    POSITION: DEVELOPMENT ENGINEER (REMOTE POSITION)

    LOCATION: LEHI, UT 84043

    DURATION: 9 MONTHS

     

    SUMMARY:

    • As an Accessibility Engineer, bring our application into WCAG 2.1 compliance, including addressing issues found in our WebAim audit. You will update our front end code to be in compliance and work with our teams to push changes through production pipelines.
    • You will coordinate and work with our teams as needed wherever there may be back end changes required to support a compliant UI.
    • You will also need to validate all your work by conducting testing of software applications, web pages, and layout templates using Lighthouse, Axe, or similar best practices or methods.
    • You will be joining a small team of highly regarded experts that provide accessible user experience services. Responsibilities include day-to-day interaction with the development team, project managers, and UX designers. You will need to report progress and document results.
    • The successful candidate will have an in-depth knowledge of the accessibility standards, have excellent technical writing skills, be able to work with minimal direction, and will work closely in support of the program goals.

     

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    ● Update or replace legacy/inaccessible components with WCAG 2.1 compliant components.

    ● Collaborate with UX design team to drive for the best possible end-user experience.

    ● Optimize front-end applications for speed, scalability & reuse.

    ● Contribute to the improvement of the team’s engineering excellence.

     

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    ● 5+ years of experience developing enterprise accessible web applications supporting

    Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge Chromium browsers.

    ● Experience with using common assistive technologies such as JAWS, NVDA, and Voiceover.

    ● Expert knowledge of HTML5, JavaScript, MooTools, React, and CSS.

    ● Strong knowledge of Angular 1 and 2.

    ● Understanding of WCAG and the principles required to meet success criteria.

    ● Strong command of web standards, responsive design, accessibility, and cross-browser compatibility.

    ● Experience with GitLab, Java, Maven, IntelliJ, Yarn, npm, and git.

    ● Macbook with 16GB RAM required.

    ● Discipline to document and code in a clear, comprehensive, and organized manner.

    ● Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
