Marketing Coordinator

Erie, PA

    • Traditional marketers need not apply. • If you think that impressions are more important than opt-ins, you don't "get it." • If you realize that branding is a byproduct of good marketing and not the goal, then this may be the job for you. We filled this job about a year ago. It was the first time we hired for this position, and it's in much better shape than it was before Kristen started. Thanks, Kristen :) Kristen has now moved into a new role in the business, and we are looking for someone to uplevel this position. This job is a mix if marketing director, marketing coordinator, and marketing assistant. If we had the budget, we'd hire all 3 positions. And guess what, if our marketing goes well, we'll have that budget! Unfortunately, like most small businesses, sometimes people need to wear more than one hat. But here's the good news, for the right person, this job will be an absolute blast, and you will have a real, measurable impact on the small business community. Will part of this job be taking my half-baked instructions and figuring out what to do from there? Yes. Will part of this job be tolerating my sarcasm and wit on the daily? You betcha. But a big part of this job will involve improving the lives of entrepreneurs in our region. Our most successful (and trackable) marketing follows direct response marketing techniques. I had a minor in marketing in college and never learned what direct response marketing was until I actually had to see a return on my marketing dollars (i.e., I became self-employed). We test and experiment a lot with our marketing. Sometimes it works beautifully, and we attract hordes of new clients. Other times, it fails miserably, and we try to pull some cash out of the dumpster fire before it’s too late (which is why part of this job entails holding vendors accountable). If you’re ready to test, experiment, learn, grow, and have fun doing it, this may be the job for you. The precise responsibilities of the job will really come down to what you bring to the table. We have a broad range of stuff to get done. If you can do it all, great! Let’s build a marketing department around that. If there are things you’re not good at, or don’t enjoy doing, let’s contract that out and hold those vendors accountable. In a typical week, you will engage in some of the following: • Collaborate on strategic plans and tactics. • Implement campaigns on Google, Facebook, Mailchimp, and maybe click funnels if you know how to use them. • Track the results of our efforts and compare them to our goals. Find out why things worked or didn’t. • Create content - write copy, design in Canva, choose the perfect Instagram filter, and explain why TikTok should matter to me. • Work with vendors and hold them accountable. • Coordinate live or virtual marketing events. • Give me a "heck yeah" to an idea after I take a few days off and come back with some inspired ideas. If you have not successfully marketed, with measurable results, please do not apply. Responsibilities: • Run our social media accounts and return messages to inquiries • Create marketing materials including website content, advertisements, social media posts, and other collateral that is polished and on-brand • Help marketing staff achieve our goals through the implementation of advertising, digital, and communication plans • Manage website content, mailing lists, SEO development, and tracking analytics to ensure all content is up to date and relevant • Deliver reports on monthly analytics across web and social platforms and advise on improvements Qualifications: • 2+ years of experience in Marketing or related field • Must exhibit strong understanding of latest marketing trends • Must possess excellent project management skills, communication skills, and a strong work ethic • Experience with social media platforms, CRM, CSM, and public relations Compensation: $65,000 - $80,000
