    Title: Logistics Associate

    Shift: 1st shift, 7am-3pm M-F

    Pay: $20-$23/hr

    Logistics Associate Role:

    The Logistics Associate supports the shipping, receiving, and material handling functions associated with achieving company goals and objectives, including maximizing productivity and on-time-delivery performance. This position will perform shipping, receiving, driving, and in-process material handling functions as workload dictates to ensure support of the manufacturing process.

    Logistics Associate Responsibilities:

    • Follows all company policies and procedures, including safety procedures and resolves and reports any unsafe conditions immediately; engages in 6S and supports Lean practices.

    • Safely operates powered industrial trucks (forklifts), cranes, and/or auxiliary equipment to perform position functions.

    • Performs all safety inspections as required, and documents per policy; ensures equipment is maintained in good working order, and reports any maintenance needed to Shipping & Receiving Supervisor and enters maintenance request in system for resolution.

    • Supports 6S and Lean principals by removing clutter from process lines and removing and disposing of dunnage properly; empties machining chip hoppers as necessary, keeps shipping containers organized and stocked as necessary.

    • Picks items noted on sales orders; picks, packs, and weighs orders requiring Cost, Insurance, and Freight (CIF) charges to determine shipping costs.

    • Selects shipping container and proper packaging for the shipment, verifies order before package, packages order for shipment, and ensures accurate labeling of all shipments.

    • Effectively performs functions in AX system to receive incoming material on an accurate and timely basis; separates and distributes orders received to applicable departments.

    • Offloads incoming bar stock; moves bar stock through the manufacturing process to support productivity and on-time-delivery.

    • Processes inbound and outbound WIP material daily to support on-time delivery of customer material.

    • Processes and completes material handling request tickets.

    • Reviews machining center daily dispatch reports and sequences bar stock from storage area into the manufacturing process in order at the relevant machining centers on a timely and accurate basis.

    • Performs cycle counts on inventory items per policy.

    • Properly load and secure parts on company flatbed truck for safe travel on roadways

    • Perform pickup and delivery of parts to local vendors in non-CDL company trucks, ensuring proper document handling and verification of parts delivered and picked up.

    • Drive safely, adhering to all roadway laws and DOT requirements

     

    About you:

    • High School graduate or equivalent, with ability to read and comprehend related documentation.

    • Must be able to safely operate a powered industrial truck (forklift), overhead cranes, and other material handling equipment 8-10 hours per day.

    • Ability to accurately perform basic math functions as required by the position and apply those functions to units of measure related to money, measurement, volume, and distance.

    • Functional ability to use computers to generate basic documents and reports through MS Office.

    • Ability to learn and proficiently use ERP system (MS AX or other), and shipping software.

    • Knowledge and understanding of basic inventory control processes and procedures, with strong attention to detail.

    • Knowledge of, or ability to learn, shipping and receiving functions in ERP systems.

    • Ability to read, write, speak, and comprehend English.

    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

    • Ability to work with others collaboratively to resolve issues.

    • Ability to follow policies, procedures, and work instructions.

    • Ability and desire to learn and adapt to new processes, and to generate and implement continuous improvement initiatives.

    • Ability to maintain an acceptable driving record for liability and insurance purposes.

    • Ability to pass and maintain a DOT physical certification

    • Must provide a 3 year DOT driving abstract, clean MVR

    • Must be able to maintain a valid DOT physical certification.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

    Must be able to perform the following physical demands with or without accommodation:

    • Must be able to lift up to 10 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally throughout the scheduled workday.

    • Position may require person to sit at a desk for up to 4 hours, constantly performing repetitive motions to use a personal computer and other office equipment, as well as walking around an office and industrial environment.

    • Ability to see (including close vision, color vision, and depth perception) and hear in order to perform the functions of this position.

    • Ability to speak, write and understand English fluently.
