    POSITION SUMMARY

    As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will be responsible for the leadership, management, coordination, and direction of the manufacturing engineering, maintenance, and programming teams to effectively and efficiently problem solve manufacturing and facilities issues, ensure environmental, health and safety performance, facilitate optimal utilization of manufacturing equipment, facilities, and people; improve processes and quality; and support the cost effective implementation of new or modified products, processes, and equipment into the business. This position is a hands-on leader who can effectively execute tasks and projects directly and through team members.

    ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Follows all environmental health and safety (EHS) policies, practices, protocols, and regulations. Proactively addresses any potential EHS issues and reports any unsafe conditions. Sets a positive example regarding EHS and a safety-first culture; ensuring adherence to 6S for safety, quality, and productivity.
    • Collaborates proactively with EHS Manager to ensure environmental, health, and safety considerations are effectively addressed regarding all projects, including capital equipment installation and modifications.
    • Leads Manufacturing Engineering, Maintenance & Programming teams and initiatives while interfacing with Product/R&D Engineering, Sales, and Operations teams to ensure streamlined, efficient, cost-effective processes; quality of work; and proactive communication.
    • Initiates, leads, manages, and participates in continuous improvement activities to improve safety, quality, delivery, and cost performance throughout operations and in areas of direct responsibility.
    • Provides oversight, direction, consultation, and project management regarding the purchase, design, installation, and start-up of new or modified equipment, and/or facility modifications.
    • Cost-effectively manages capital projects to ensure service, quality and value are achieved within established budget. Obtains appropriate authorization and maintains tracking and documentation of spend.
    • Assists with the development of the annual plan regarding capital equipment and facilities, helping to ensure that projects correlate with strategic plans and goals.
    • Coaches and mentors the engineering team to develop best practices in identifying, troubleshooting, and resolving all types of process/production issues.
    • Supports new product and process development while ensuring effective handoff and implementation to manufacturing through effective communication and processes.
    • Tracks, reports, and achieves equipment uptime goals through implementation, execution, and monitoring of a preventive maintenance (PM) plan. Identifies and improves any gaps in the PM program.
    • Develops maintenance technician’s abilities to troubleshoot and problem solve, identifying competencies required, existing gaps, and determining development path to ensure appropriate knowledge level to support manufacturing requirements.
    • Utilizes MPulse maintenance software to generate data, establish metrics, and manage effectiveness to ensure departmental goals and expectations are being met.
    • Ensures equipment programs are completed on time with good quality to support the manufacturing schedule, collaborating with product design and development, manufacturing engineering, and operations to optimize programming.
    • Leads improvements in efficiency of programs to reduce cut time and reduce tooling costs, and to standardize where possible for ease training and use by manufacturing.
    • Directs and oversees the activities of direct report(s), manages performance, provides for professional development, and manages the annual performance review and merit increase process, and ensures timely and meaningful completion of reviews.
    • Effectively utilizes resources and project management tools and processes to meet project objectives, develops, analyzes data, and distributes status reports including action items, schedules, and budgets and ensures collaboration and communication with all stakeholders.
    • Provides engineering drawings in AutoCAD, and engineering calculations to support projects as assigned or identified.

    QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

    Work Experience:

    • 7+ years related experience, preferably in a similar manufacturing environment.
    • A proven background in problem resolution (root cause analysis), as part of a team.

    Education and Skills:

    • B.S. of Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or Manufacturing)
    • Ability to prioritize assignments to meet established goals and objectives, as well as the ability to lead direct reports and cross-functional teams and function effectively as a hands-on individual contributor.
    • High degree of technical multi-discipline equipment troubleshooting and maintenance capabilities.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with a high degree of coaching, mentorship, and team orientation.
    • Customer focused, both internally and externally, to achieve company objectives.
    • Continuous improvement oriented with the ability to identify and implement practical solutions in a timely fashion.
    • Highly functional skills in AutoCAD, Microsoft Word, Project, and Excel
    • Strong organizational and detail orientation skills, ability to collect and analyze data to provide optimal solutions.
    • Ability to effectively plan and manage budgets.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

    • Must be able to perform the following physical demands with or without accommodation:
    • Position may require person to be on their feet to 8-10 hours standing or walking in a heavy manufacturing environment, constantly performing regularly scheduled maintenance duties
    • Ability to lift objects weighing more than 50 pounds infrequently
    • Ability to safely operate forklift, overhead cranes, and other material handling equipment
    • Ability to see and hear in order to perform the functions of this position
