    Adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities have an opportunity to whet their appetite for community-based employment at ArcWorks, where they assemble and package materials for local manufacturers. The workshop, located at the Canal Side Business Center, reflects the typical workplace, with supervisors, teams, performance goals, a structured work environment, but most of all a supportive and caring atmosphere.

     

    ArcWorks is seeking someone who has that 'roll up your sleeves', hands-on and get involved attitude for this role. You will be required to have an intimate knowledge of a Manufacturing/Production operation.

     

    Responsibilities include but not limited to:

    •  reviewing open orders, assesses personnel available to complete work
    • Maintains production planning, scheduling and related documentation
    •  Reviews and trains all personnel to the requirements of the work
    •  Reviews documentation to ensure consistent understanding and implementation of goals and Prevocational needs
    •  Ensures Production Supervisors are clear on the people supported goals.

     

    Required Skills

     

    • Basic Computer Literacy as evidenced by the ability to go online and conduct basic searches on the Internet, check his/her email account, create and send e-mail with an attachment and use simple email features.   Can open spreadsheets and word processing documents to read and make simple edits.
    • Ability to look several weeks out to prepare and plan production, anticipate issues, and develop effective schedules.
    • Demonstrated ability to accurately assess performance and provide supervisory staff with actionable feedback.
    • Writing skills appropriate for communicating performance
    • Ability to coordinate production of numerous jobs simultaneously.
    • Displays a commitment to the future success of individuals we serve, program areas, staff, and the Agency.
    • Ability to work with adults with developmental disabilities.
    • Valid NYS Driver's License preferred. Availability of insured personal vehicle to transport self and/or individuals preferred.

     

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

    • Standing 20% of the time. Walking 40% of the time. Sitting 40% of the time.
    • Some stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, pushing and pulling.
    • Primarily sedentary work requiring exertion of up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. May be required to lift up to 50 pounds when necessary.
    • Visual acuity necessary to perform activities such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visually inspect for defects; and perform activities such as operating machines.

     

    Required Experience

     

    High School Diploma plus five years production experience in a role with responsibility for ensuring the timely delivery of multiple products simultaneously. Must have at least three years supervisory experience. Experience working on a production floor for a manufacturer shop is a plus. Exceptional ability to communicate effectively with individuals, small groups and in larger groups. Must have the professional demeanor to interact effectively with all levels of the organization.
