Telephonics is seeking a Program Director to organizes and directs the activities of a professional staff that is responsible for planning and completing all projects associated with a designated product line, which includes preparing proposals in response to requests received from potential customers; and planning, directing, and coordinating the completion of projects within prescribed contractual requirements, time frames, and funding parameters. Ensures that financial and quality assurance objectives are attained.
Organizes and directs the activities of a professional staff that is responsible for planning and completing all projects associated with a designated product line, e.g. air traffic control. These activities include:
Performs a variety of managerial duties to ensure the timely completion of work and compliance with the organizations operational and administrative policies and procedures, which includes:
Organizing, prioritizing, and assigning work to subordinates.
Coordinating work with other departments to prevent unnecessary delays.
Managing the financial resources allocated to assigned projects to ensure that profit margins and other financial results are obtained.
Reviewing all assignments and work completed to ensure compliance with quality assurance standards.
Reviewing and approving all aspects of project proposals or plans to determine time frame, negotiation limits, staffing requirements, resource allocation, and other factors.
Conferring with Program Managers to outline work plans and to assign duties, responsibilities, and scopes of authority.
Evaluating the performance of staff members in formal review.
Coaching and counseling staff members to improve their performance.
Fashioning developmental and training plans to improve the existing skill of staff members.
Interviewing and hiring new employees and ensuring that they are properly trained and oriented.
Developing and proposing annual operating budgets.
Ensuring compliance to budgetary guidelines.
Ensuring the profit and loss and total composite performance for all programs inclusive of sales, margin, schedule adherence, technical compliance and customer satisfaction.
Developing and implementing improvements to existing operating procedures to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the department.
Required Skills
EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering from a four-year college or university.
EXPERIENCE: 15 years experience in engineering program management with 8 years of management experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. (Min 8-15 years with BA/BS.)
Must have experience in Defense Industry.
OTHER: Background suitable to support a Secret clearance.
