  • Responsibilities

    PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

    • Responsible for planning, resource management and scheduling of all work on SACOM.  Participate in cross-functional team meetings to develop scope delivery and coordinate across multiple disciplines to achieve the plans.  Design project/program/core requirements schedules of data in all project life cycles.  Schedule and maintain knowledge of all key project milestones.  Administer projects from conceptualization to implementation and evaluate all issues.

    PRINCIPAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POSITION

    • Prepare baseline schedules and schedule basis documents for approval by project teams and for integration into a Master SACOM Schedule.
    • Assess impacts to the critical path and near-critical activities and report to the project team.
    • Resource load schedules and work with Project Managers to status and perform jobsite walks to verify physical progress of scheduled activities as needed.
    • Basic knowledge and understanding of Maximo work flow.

    Job Description

    • Perform tasks required to develop and maintain budgets for a project. This includes reorganizing budgets resulting from a change in means and methods, as well as updating budgets for additional work activities;
    • Monitor costs and progress. This includes coding or reviewing the coding of timesheets, invoices, etc. for accuracy as well as insuring that adequate tracking of quantities and production is done on a weekly basis.  The results of the analysis should be analyzed and clearly communicated to the other members of the project team;
    • Prepare monthly project forecasts based on extensive knowledge of the ongoing project activities as well as input from other members of the project team;
    • Provide guidance and/or on-the-job training to clerical and entry level professional personnel assigned to area of responsibility as needed;
    • Assist in the preparation and negotiation of cost for additional work on the project including tracking Time & Material work;
    • Gather data from the project team to create and update Microsoft Project schedules;
    • Analyzing resource workload across multiple projects;
    • Updating PowerPoint presentations for project review meetings

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

    • Bachelor Degree in Engineering, Business or equivalent required;
    • Minimum 2 years of working as a scheduler or project controller in the Project Management field, can substitute experience for degree.
    • Experience working with tactical and strategic planning
    • Experience working with project management software
    • Experience with publishing project schedules and resource allocation schedules, enabling consistent high on time delivery of requirements

    OTHER REQUIREMENTS

    • Must be a U. S. Citizen in order to obtain required NASA badge.
    • Must be able to provide a certified Birth Certificate (with state seal), Passport or INS Citizenship documents on date of hire (candidate will be sent home if this paperwork is not provided upon arrival on date of hire).
    • Must have the ability to communicate the English language, both verbally and written, in an effective manner.
    • Must have, and maintain, a valid driver’s license.

    • Dexterity to operate office and field equipment as required by position.

    PREFERENCES

    • Prior knowledge of NASA site, experienced with working on government installations preferred.
