Regional Academic Quality Controller
Job Description
The Regional Academic Quality Controller (RAQC) is responsible and accountable for the proper, efficient, and successful operation of the Academic Quality Controllers (AQCs) at each school under his/her responsibility. The RAQC provides leadership, guidance and support to the AQCs. The RAQC is also involved with the training and development of teaching staff, monitoring student progress and examining students’ results on a weekly basis. The RAQC ensures the SABIS® brand, philosophy, systems, policies, and procedures are properly implemented and adhered to. The RAQC must attend school functions as requested.
Key Responsibilities:
AQC Leadership, Support & Guidance and School Visits: Provides support to the AQCs on the daily and weekly academic challenges; ensures the AQCs follow the SABIS® approved subject distributions; ensures AQCs implement the SABIS® Systems model (philosophy, exams, pacing, etc.); ensures each school has implemented procedures to establish a disciplined environment in which students can learn; conducts meetings with the AQCs through calls, video conference, school visits, etc. in order to ensure school objectives are aligned as planned and take corrective action(s) accordingly;
Admission & Book Ordering: Spot check the analysis of diagnostic exams and placement of new students are done effectively at each school; approve and ensure all book orders (SABIS® or external vendor) have been placed; ensures books arrive on time prior to the start of each school year;
Training & Development: Provide training to AQCs in order they successfully and efficiently perform their assigned tasks; customize a summer training plan for all new and returning staff; verify implementation of summer training plan with the Executive Regional Directors, AQCs, and Subject Coordinators; customize and conduct training modules for talent development of school staff members for succession planning in different fields within the SABIS® School Network; coordinate with Subject Coordinators, AQCs and others to assign mentors for new teachers and follow-up on the set training plan; ensure development and implementation of performance improvement plans for teachers and AQCs as needed; ensure newly recruited teachers hired during the academic year are fully trained;
Monitoring Students Progress: Ensure development and implementation of educational plans for all struggling students in order for gaps to be addressed; ensure the academic results of all students are being closely monitored; ensure intervention and remedial plans are in place; ensure that the multi-tiered system of support (MTSS) is fully implemented; work with the AQCs to ensure mentors for new students are assigned when school starts, in coordination with the Student Life Coordinator (SLC) and Student Life Organization (SLO®);
End-of-Year Results & Summer Planning: During the second term, work with AQCs to estimate students who will be promoted, retained or required to attend summer school; discuss end-of-year results with the school AQCs and the appropriate academic teams; approve or amend the discussed recommendations concerning student promotions, fails, make-up exams, and summer school; approve the summer school plans including the distribution of subjects and teachers; review drafts of the timetable for the following year and obtain approval from the Executive Regional Director for the final version of the timetable;
Travel Requirements: To be support the schools and staff needs, the RAQC will be required 50-75%.
Other Duties As Needed: Any other duties and tasks as deemed necessary and appropriate.
Ideal Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field, Master’s a plus;
Teaching in a K-12 education setting and school leadership;
High degree of proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook);
Timely, accurate, and effective in handling projects and tasks;
Ability to effectively interpret data (including data from respective States’ Department of Education) and charts, and uses information to improve student academic results and AQC performance;
Ability to meet deadlines;
Ability to produce results independently and in a team environment;
Good command of the English language, oral and written.
