    The Society for Advancement of Chicanos/Hispanics and Native Americans (SACNAS) is the largest multicultural and multidisciplinary STEM diversity organization in the country. SACNAS is an inclusive organization dedicated to fostering the success of Chicanos/Hispanics and Native Americans, from college students to professionals, in attaining advanced degrees, careers, and positions of leadership in STEM. SACNAS serves over 10,000 members and has over 144 student and professional chapters throughout the United States and its territories. SACNAS influences a larger STEM community of over 25,000 through outreach, advocacy, and production of the National Diversity in STEM Conference.

    The Coordinator, Marketing and Communications is a position within the SACNAS External Affairs Department that focuses mainly on preparing marketing content for year-round events, including providing support for our largest event, the NDiSTEM Conference. The Coordinator implements social media efforts across multiple platforms, supports and advances the broader marketing strategy, and tracks the performance of key marketing and communication metrics for the organizations. The role is expected to stay current on demographics, corporate board trends, issues, data, and new media. The position reports to the Manager, Marketing and Communications. This is a non-exempt position, which can be performed remotely.

    THE JOB

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    Social Media

    • Draft, design, and publish content and copy for all SACNAS social media channels (Twitter, LinkedIn, TikTok, YouTube, Instagram, and Facebook and other platforms as they develop)

    • Design visually appealing and attractive social media elements, assisting with email content as needed.

    • Engage, comment, and reply to followers on all SACNAS social media accounts promptly.

    • Track social media performance and metrics to inform future improvements; pull analytic reports for all SACNAS’ social channels regularly.

    • Identify and leverage relevant social media trends to incorporate into SACNAS’ communications calendar.

    • Maintain the NDiSTEM social media toolkit, in coordination with a broader team. This includes designing promotional elements for speakers, attendees, etc.

    • Lead the yearly NDiSTEM Social Media Street Team including sourcing applications, selecting team members, training, and on-the-ground deployment.

    • Under the direction of the Manager, Marketing and Communications, Source relevant thought leadership articles to share across SACNAS’ social channels to spark conversation amongst followers.

    • Publish approved rapid responses to cultural and movement moments across social media channels, amplifying allies and driving creative content to respond to the moment.

    • Help archive and document a library of Standard Operating Procedures for social media as a training guide for board members, street teams, and other users.

    • Serve as part of a broader team that helps develop, maintain, and update it regularly, including responsibility for website changes and content.

    • Collaborate with all staff and management to support and ensure that the website aligns with brand strategy and meets the organization’s standards; and

    • Keep up to date with industry best practices.

    Marketing and Communications

    • Support and execute the organization’s marketing and communications strategy including media outreach, website content, email assistance, and or social media content creation.

    • Execute and assist with writing, creating, editing, delivering, and optimizing a range of digital content.

    • Coordinate and or support as needed organization’s content for website and other collateral (materials, reports, etc.)

    • Adhere to the organization’s style guide, ensuring that we produce high-quality assets.

    • Support developing and editing of marketing materials and liaise with teams to implement various internal and external communications for the organization; and

    • Perform other duties when needed.

    Cross-Functional Support

    • Collaborate closely and support the work of our cross-functional teams as needed on all marketing and communications collateral and social media assets, etc.

    • Advance the mission and support the building of community across organizations’ online, member, and social media platforms.

    • Attend internal weekly meetings.

    MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

    • Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 2-4 years’ work experience.

    • Experience working with Native Americans, Chicanos/Hispanics, or other underrepresented minority populations.

    CRITICAL SKILLS, QUALITIES, AND ABILITIES

    • Excellent organizational and project management skills; ability to meet deadlines, and to help others meet their deadlines.

    • Demonstrated skills, knowledge, and experience in social media, developing and deploying digital content, and executing marketing and general communications strategies across digital platforms.

    • Working knowledge of Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, Tik-Tok, YouTube and Facebook.

    • Experience using social media management tools (ex: Hootsuite, Buffer, Sprout Social, etc.)

    • Some experience with social media analytics, including Google Analytics and Facebook Insights

    • Competence with the technology platforms and tools of the trade: Hubspot

    • Social media: Twitter, LinkedIn, TikTok, YouTube, Instagram, and Facebook

    • Design skills or experience using Canva (graphics)

    • Has a passion for advancing and promoting diversity or is motivated by mission-based organizations and cultures.

    • Good writing and editing skills, and the ability to develop messaging and creative content for a diverse audience; needs to have strong attention to detail skills.

    • A self-motivated professional, who is creative and entrepreneurial; a problem-solver who takes a solution-oriented and creative approach to challenges.

    • Well-developed computer and office skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite of programs (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and Google Docs; Adobe and other graphic design tools desired.

    • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy as it relates to social media and communications.

    • Excellent professional written and verbal communication skills

    • Ability to embrace and incorporate direct feedback.

    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

    • Ability to analyze data and make solid recommendations for improved strategy.

    • Ability to succeed and enjoy working in a fast-paced, highly dynamic environment with a proven skill set utilizing sound judgment, creativity, and effective time management solutions.

    • Ability to maintain confidentiality around sensitive and complex relationships and projects.

    • Ability to work some evenings and weekends.

    • Occasional regional and national travel will be required.

    **Salary & Benefits **

    • Salary Range: $59,765 - $70,065

    • 0-2 years: 4.61 hours – 15 days

    The salary range outlined above represents the organization’s good faith minimum and maximum range for this role at the time of posting. The actual compensation offered to a candidate will be dependent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s experience, qualifications, and location.
