QUALIFICATIONS:
Master’s degree in education or related academic field
The individual meets the requirements of MCL 380.1246(3) or has a work plan in place to receive administration certification
A valid Michigan Teaching Certificate.
A valid Michigan Administrator Certificate.
Minimum of five years of teaching experience with K-8 students.
Bilingual/ESL endorsement preferred
Evidence of increasing student academic achievement
Demonstrated management/leadership skills
Fluency in Spanish, highly desirable
Submit to a criminal background check and be found without record.
Position Summary:
The Instructional Leader serves in the oversight, administration, and planning coordination of school activities and programs, through an SEL and equity lens. The Instructional leader provides oversights in areas such as curriculum, instruction, assessment, student conduct and attendance, extracurricular programs, school operations, and the supervision and evaluation of school personnel. This position is tasked to carry out the mandate of the mission and vision of Escuela Avancemos Academy.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Student Performance
Set and enforce rigorous standards for student achievement that are in line with the goals of Escuela Avancemos! Academy
Ensure the academic program meets or exceeds yearly student outcome goals as defined by Escuela Avancemos! Academy and measured by the Authorizer and MDE
Oversee and coordinate state-mandated assessments
Instructional Oversight
Collaborate with ESP in the development of organizational goals and objectives consistent with the mission, vision, and core values of Escuela Avancemos! Academy
Oversee all academic and curricular programs of the Academy through a DEI lens
Lead teachers and school leadership team in developing a positive and transformative school culture aligned with the mission, vision and core values of the Academy.
Completes and maintains academic-related authorizer, MDE, ISD, and school-level reports
Lead the school improvement planning process in collaboration with ESP, school leadership team, and school personnel.
Implement data-driven instruction and lead discussions about student performance
Provide oversight and coordination of special education and EL supports
Manages teaching staff, including professional development, staff observations/evaluations, curriculum development, staff communication and scheduling, and program decisions.
Maintains communication and relations with parents in a culturally appropriate manner, ensuring families are kept involved with and held accountable for their children’s academic and behavioral performance.
Work with teachers to improve their teaching practice through coaching, professional development, modeling, and collaborative planning.
Assist in the oversight of student enrollment processes to ensure that the school achieves its targeted enrollment projections.
Personnel
Assist in the recruitment, selection and hiring of instructional school staff, including teachers and instructional-based support staff.
Continually monitor progress on all measures of school and staff performance
Administer Sanga Educational Partners approved personnel policies and procedures
Oversee disciplinary actions in partnership with HR
Provide for adequate supervision, training, and evaluation of all instructional staff
Community Relations
Represents the school at authorizer, ISD, MDE, and community meetings
Serve as liaison between teachers, parents, and the community including leading monthly Cafecito’s
Participate in monthly Board meetings to report on instructional progress

Supports parent empowerment and engagement initiatives, with a particular focus on parent education/training related to curriculum and instruction
